quick question about my disc spec

Hey guys I just got my priest to 80 a few days ago and I'm excited about getting him geared and into ICC as quick as I can with my guild. I was healing H PoS last night and this druid tank kept telling me my spec was all messed up. When I asked him why he said because I wasn't specced into Reflective Shield. I figured it was a nice PvP talent but that it wasn't worth the 2 points for a PvE spec. No one died in the run and the druid never got below 85%. So you guys tell me if my spec is broke or if I should have just told that tank to stick it.

First off, that druid does not know what he is talking about, reflective shield does not work on others. Second, 3/3 Imp Renew is pretty useless since renew for disc is weak compared to the other spells available. Also, since you just dinged 80, I suggest getting the crit talents since your crit will be low. I suggest something like this, since you should not need GH to heal heroics, so Divine Fury is less useful.

Your spec looks fine, don't pay attention to this retarded druid

Like Fabian said, probably today taking into account your gear and where you should probably be raidin for the moment, DF is not worth yet for you. Once you get 600 haste then you can come back to this template, where GH may become usefull in some situations (Nooo please evreyone, don't start another disc haste thread please!)

Hmm. Spec looks OK.

Take the 3 points out of Imp Renew and put them in Focused Will mate. Crit is very nice for a Disc priest and the more the better. Also, Lose the 2 points in Healing Focus and put 1 in Holy Specialisation and 1 in Pain Suppression. No Disc priest should be without Pain Suppression

Put full points into holy specialization.
Get rid of improved renew, youll find yourself hardly using it.
The rest should go into spell warding.

Thank for the advice guys. I changed my spec and got rid of imp renew and healing focus. I never thought about getting pain surpression for pve but it seems like all the disc priests I see have it.

Pain Suppression is a castable Shield Wall. Tanks are getting hit hard. Very hard. Being able to mitigate that, when you need to, is one of the key draws to the spec. If the option to give it to a Holy Paladin or a Resto Druid was there, they'd take that in a heartbeat, it's that good.

Ok. The only reason why I never specced into it before was because I thought, especially during a burn phase, that maybe that 5% threat reduction could hurt a tank in a raid. But now that I think about it I guess if that 5% really hurt a tank's threat to the point that a dps would pull aggro that maybe that tank should reroll. Thanks again everyone for the help!

idd mate. I use PS at will, and never has it caused such a threat loss that DPS will pull. Your tanks and healer team will all love it too!

Yea I've healed a 10man VoA and a 10man Uld today and the new spec has worked out great. You all were right that I never really use renew, and PS has been such a life saver. Disc healing is such a blast.
