    Re: Poll for Dpsers

i don't think the question applys to heroics, because it shouldn't. I mean i could say i am the biggest help to healers in a heroic because i can get 3 Divine storms for 30k each in about 5 seconds(if i am really lucky.) does that technically count as helping my healers? Also all because you pop something doesn't mean your helping your healers.

If your using an ability to keep yourself alive because you wanna keep dpsing, but your healer had you covered your not helping the healer your helping yourself. Now if you pop something and pull an add because the tank is taking a lot of damage(no matter what class) that is helping the whole group. It's far to situational to say well i use this so yeah i guess i help.
I'm glad to have multiple personalities, if i didn't i would be talking to myself, and that's just insane.

I am using enraged generation on bosses, only when it cant hurt my dps , like in BQL air phase and such.

    Re: Poll for Dpsers

Of course I'd help if it is within my power. Healer get's aggro or some lonely mob runs towards him - I instantly pull my direction towards the mob trying to kite his ass long enough for the tank to grab it or I just coil it so I can buy some time before I end up dead. I am also full on potions and HS for emergencies so even if the healer slacks a bit, I won't get killed and thus prevent a wipe.

So to answer your question: yes, I do want to help mainly because I understand my role as contribution to the overall performance of the team. While tanks have the role to both hold aggro and watch for sudden shifts in mob/add count, healers have to pay attention and heal the tank and rest of the group/raid. We dps can help greatly if we try to stand out of fire (duh), learn to coordinate (like I mentioned above) and use our abilities/cds to complement their own. That and ofc, the required pewpew.

Re: Poll for Dpsers: Defensive cooldowns

Yes definately. Anything to take less damage, I'll do. I like to compare my dps in raids, to see where I'm at. I also like to compare the damage taken, when not tanking, to see where I am there and if there is anyway I can improve on that.

Re: Poll for Dpsers: Defensive cooldowns

As a healer, I wholeheartedly love dpsers who take everything into account in a fight....especially staying alive.

Here's to you dpsers who use defensive cd's - cheers.

I don't believe these results are accurate. Half the dps I see don't even stop dpsing when they pull agro let alone pop a defensive cd.

Re: Poll for Dpsers: Defensive cooldowns

Dead DPS < Slightly lower DPS because you used a GCD for a defensive CD

Mind you, I play a feral druid so popping my defensive cooldown doesn't actually affect my DPS, but why the crap wouldn't you want to give your healers and raid the best chance possible to stay alive? Your extra 1 or 2 auto attacks that you lose to pop the cooldown doesn't mean shite; you dying probably means alot more.

I guarantee that no good raid leader will ever give you shit for popping a defensive cooldown during a boss fight (assuming you're not otherwise retarded).
    Only users lose drugs.

No, helping healers and playing tactical shows that you take the instance seriously. By standing in fire, and pure dps without thinking of anything else, you can show that you are way superior and the instance is easy for you. I dont wanna look like a noob by missing even half a cooldown or a point of mana or rage on something else than damage.

Re: Poll for Dpsers: Defensive cooldowns

I used to throw up dispersion whenever I pulled aggro, which wasn't often, not to help the healer but more myself. Selfish I guess ^^
If I was a Blizz server technician, I'd hijack a server and use it to download porn 24/7. Guess why the instance servers always are full B]

Re: Poll for Dpsers: Defensive cooldowns

ofcourse. whenever you start raiding seriously you have to think about those things especially in progression.

i remember days of t8 (playing enhancement) content Vezax HM for example our holy paladin would use Divine Sarcrifice but me as enhancement shaman i would further help and wait around 30% of animus health to pop shamanistic rage. nowdays with 2pc t10 its sham. rage is actually dps cd + dam. reduction but backdays it wasnt.

mimiron p2 HM - you really need defensive cd's there to help healers.

these are 2 moments i just remembered but ofcourse there are many more. i dont think you can play properly if you dont use them. if you waste 2-3 gcd's during one fight it should not make a difference but if you bring stability/survival for a minimal dps loss thats a huge benefit.

Re: Poll for Dpsers: Defensive cooldowns

I love using Evasion when Gal'darah uses his bleeding whirlwind.
I love using Cloak to avoid an AoE, or when there's a dot on me the healer can't cure.
I love using both when fighting Volasj in Old Kingdom.
I love using Vanish when bugging out Hadronox's trash.

Oh, and all of the above is good when I have aggro.

Always use CDs to save my own life. Plus AMS is a DPS increase if you happen to be taking aoe magic damage. Free full RP bar ftw.

Re: Poll for Dpsers: Defensive cooldowns

Occasional Shadowfury when appropriate, not just for the sake of healers but whenever I feel it will prove useful.
Howl/Deathcoil less often but only out of desperation for obvious reasons.

If anything standing in fire etc will cause pushback, so dropping your dps more than actually moving out of it usually will.
