I must disagree with the orginal poster.

i think its completely nonsense that a 3800 gearscore player cant hold aggro from a guy with 6k gearscore as dps.
ive been through this myself a week of 4-5 ago when i got my 2nd warrior 80, and specced it prot and went to farm my heroics for emblems,
this said, my main is also warrior, protection and got 5,9k gearscore as tank.

In not any of the heroics ive been with my alt, i lost aggro due to the fact of my gearscore. i just had to do more for it.

But people have to stop linking Gearscore of a person to someones performance
Ive seen 5.8k gearscore mages do less dps then a 5.3k dps gearscore mage.

All I am asking for is that noob tanks get noob dps and that decently geared players get decently geared tanks. This solves the gear gap and it won't cause headaches for the geared dps pulling aggro from the noob tank, or a noob dps slowing down a geared tank.

Also what if the person with 6k gs has no guild? It is possible to pug to 6k gs (I have pugged all of WOTLK).

I agree with the OP that yea the 3800 GS tank can't keep agro away from a 6k GS dpser (i am close but not there). i could wait 20 seconds before attacking and i will still grab agro. What do i do? queue with a healer that knows me and the problem solved.

Make your own group. Also, how can you tell that a tank is a "noob" he may have a main that is better geared than your character. His gear may not show it, but doesn't mean he's a noob.

My tank is 5.7k GS and I have 3 other lvl 80s with over 5k GS pve gear.

I have no problem doing my daily Frosties with whatever lvl 80s I get. Plus, I only know my GS because others tell me. Personally, they mean jackshit.

I have outdps'ed 5k+ GS players when I was 4.8k GS on my hunter in ICC. Again, skill > GS

I have had 5900GS players pulling 6-6500 DPS on runs and they know when to vanish/FD/Cower etc. Where is the point of sitting at your keyboard with smoke coming out your ears, because the tank you far out outgear can't hold aggro off you? Relax a bit. Realise that this heroic WILL take longer than 6 mins and CALM down.

Its a game. Enjoy it. Us casual lower geared players are trying to gear up so we can start to see DPS numbers approaching yours, but show off your real skill by maximising your DPS without pulling aggro. Now that needs real skill.

Though i agree it's hardly possible for a tank to hold threat when severely outgeared by dps, the dps just need to be more carefull.
And if you did only get tanks of a very similar gearscore you could expect the queue to increase significantly; a mediocre geared tank now is better than a raid geared tank 15 minutes from now imo.

• Their gear sucks, so inorder to save a headache for both the tank and the dps, toss em in with lower geared dps.
• They suck so they are at fault not the dps because tanking in WOTLK is easy.

ive tanked, dps'ed, and healed heroics for a while, and I'll typically never say anything against a tank. An undergeared tank can hold agro with 2.5k damage. You just have to give him a second to get agro. Use whatver 'tricks' you can. If you have to 'slow' down a little in a heroic, then you have to slow down.

Again, undergeared doesn't mean they suck. A 4k gs tank can hold on a mob from dps'ers doing probably 8k dps. You really don't have to hold back.

I was dps'ing today in HVH, 4.5 gs tank. I dropped almost 12k dps on cyanigosa and didn't lose agro. and yeah, the tank, even with blood lust did 2k dps. yet still held agro.

so if dps is complaining about it, it's more than likely dps's fault.

However, i will say it could be tanks fault, but regardless of gear score, you will pull agro from a bad tank. Has nothing to do with gear.

edit: and btw if you don't like the 'random' pug thing and waiting 20mins, then maybe /trade for a premade group, it would probably take the same amount of time. and if you're too impatient, then suck it up and be a better team player.

A paladin tanked and his equip had a similar level to my equip, maybe slightly lower.
And guess what?
Exactly, i got aggro every freakin mob.

On the first boss, that big fat stone giant thingy, i managed to get aggro 2 times.
Yes, even after i used soul shatter.

Gearscore says NOTHING about the player behind the numbers and epics.
That's why i hate this joke of an addon and that's why i hate your attitude towards lower geared tanks.

I could not have said it better myself. Read this over and over again until you realize that you're not the only person in this game. It's not your heroic, people shouldn't have to adapt to you, if you're not willing to adapt for them.

Seriously, why do you care? The casual player's 15$ is worth just as much as yours. Why can't he be entitled to a rusted or iron bound drake.
