I agree with most the above posts, in a 5man situation cast whatever you think will cover incoming damage, in 25mans your GCD's should be either PW:S, POM or penance, I wouldn't recommend renewing as disc as thats the holy priests/resto druids job, your there more as a health buffer than a healer.

It's not our best healing spell but anyone who completely removes it from their bars is artificially limiting themselves in their ability to address circumstances as they are encountered. As its our only HoT, it certainly has its place and a set of circumstances that make it favorable or in some cases our only option if we've already exhausted a few choices. Be smart about its use but don't take it off your bars.

I roll renew when I have a second if the tank/raid is at full health. Usually after I hit them with PW: S. As that keeps them up while I pop a renew on them. It can only help. However if you prioritise your spells, this is the lowest and should only be used as a filler.

I wouldn't spec improved renew however as it's not a primary spell. Waste of talent points.
