    Recommend a band/artist!

    Pretty self explanatory ^_^

    Soul Coughing, alternative, so addictive.
Queens of the Stone Age, hard rock, amazing all around band.
Wolfmother, Stoner rock, I'd recommend only downloading first CD though

    Anyway, go!
You can tell WoW changed the MMO for good when players started complaining about the amount of time they sink, into a time sink.

    In Flames (Melodic Metal)
Gotta decide for yourself which album you like best, I like Reroute to Remain, Soundtrack to your Escape
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g6ewv23BCrw

Serj Tankian - Elect the dead SYMPHONY - best album I have heard in the last year by far. Especially for fans of system of a Down, ofc. This Album wins very much on the Original CD over the mp3s. All Orchestra records do
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEkQR9Wzock

Tool - the Album Lateralus is imo one of the greatest of all times.

tried to provide youtube samples, but ofc that cant cover all of an artists work

for a similar reason I did not cheer at his solo Album either, even though it is quite good.
but the SYMPHONIC version of elect the dead is just epic. Not in the WoW-diluted kind of meaning of the word, it just is epic. Too good to mourn about SOAD. maybe they'll return.

Also I wanna add VolBeat to my list up there. Kind of Rock 'n Roll - Metal .... Listen for yourself.

I'll agree it is a good album and is miles better than scars on broadway, and ya soad is probably never getting back together, :<

Also gonna recommend Voltaire, just for his up beat songs about death and evil!

Elect the Dead Symphony is just something else .

Savatage - American 80's metal band. A couple of good albums, a couple of bad, but Hall of the Mountain King is completely awesome straight through. Definitely worth a listen.

Ensiferum - Finnish folk metal with a progressive touch. Really interesting.

Wow, that is an amazing song, i enjoyed it thuroghly

I reccomend some good old Van Halen. Before 1984, it was all realy good hard rock, although Van Hagar was alright at times, it was a little too synthy. I reccomend Hot For Teacher of the 1984 album

For fans of the black metal genre I won't have to 'introduce' Opeth. I am a newcomer to them. I saw them live alongside Dream Theater and was blown away. I'm not usually a fan of the growling death metal vocals but Opeth are something special. Fantastic use of instruments.

Opeth - The Night and the Silent Water (early career, listen to that guitar harmony!)
    Opeth - Bleak (mid career)
Opeth - Reverie/Harlequin Forest (late career, 5:05 til the end gets five stars)
    Opeth - Hex Omega (latest)
    Zizi - Amazo - Dessler - Vormondt.

    Aszune - EU

Apocalyptica proves you dont need guitars (or drums or vocals) for a true metal band.

There's a band im a huge fan of, called Army of Freshmen, an independent pop punk band from the US. Same kind of style as Bowling For Soup, and close friends to them. Check out some of their songs on youtube. They are very easy to listen to, and so much fun to see live

Ensiferum, very awesome Folk Metal that gives you the "Medieval" feeling, without being as cheesy as Rhapsody. And they also have some interesting mixtures of wild western music in them.
    Smoking Ruins
and Stone Cold Metal along with One More Magic Potion, Old Man or Iron should give a more or less accurate feeling of their music.

PS: listen to ~6:00 in Stone Cold Metal if you ever wanted to hear a banjo in a metal solo.
