Holes means you have less of a foodlate ratio, you can get more net weight of pancakes into the same volume and area as you could with waffles. Therefore pancakes win.

That's not necessarily true as you have to also take the density of the pancake and waffle into consideration. If my pancakes turn out super fluffy they are likely to be less dense but take up more space whereas waffles tend to be more consistent in production and typically are more dense.

Plus the holes act as delicious pockets of syrup accumulation rather than the whole thing acting as the world's most delicious sponge.

Non-breakfast related, but the local barbecue restaurant has a polish sausage wrapped in bacon, then deep fried and topped with baked beans and mustard. Best hot dog like sandwich ever.
