    Wireless lag spikes, help?

    Hey guys,
Ever since I got this laptop I've been receiving those "freeze then fast forward" lag spikes that last about 3 seconds and occur probably once every 10 minutes (In WOW). It's really getting annoying and I've been trying for the past 2 months to fix it but it feels like there's nothing to fix it. My wireless card is an Atheros AR9285 802.11b/g/n on an HP Pavilion Laptop, connected to a D-Link Router. I have already tried these to fix it:

    Reinstalled WoW
Deleted my WTF, Cache, Interface folders
    Updated all my drivers
    Cleaned out my computer
Fixed firewall settings (i hope they're correct)
Tried a bunch of programs that supposedly "help" with this issue, none have worked

If anybody has any suggestions on how to fix this, please post!!

    Thanks in advanced

Well, I tried this and so far it works:

I haven't really played WoW extensively since I installed the app, but it was getting really unbearable the last couple of days and I haven't had a problem since installing the tool listed above.

Hmm, could it possibly be a defective router? I've had this router for about 3-4 years, and I dont know if there may be a time where you need to replace it... but my brother's laptop works perfectly fine on wireless without these lag spikes, and my WiFi card has all it's drivers up to date and everything also =/

What operating system do you have and what operating system does your brother have? As far as I know, this is a vista only issue, so if you are using any other operating system, then you should not be having these random lag issues.

Well I do recall having similar problems with an ancient (11 mbs) wireless router I used to have.... It would choke up my entire network for some reason and I fixed the problem by replacing it. I can't say for certain that is the problem you are having, especially if both of you guys are connecting through the same router and only one of you is having problems. It wouldn't hurt to go buy a new one and try to see if your router is the problem, but just make sure that you can return it for a full refund.
