You were told wrong. Its actually better for a Ret than any other class, since we get the most use out of it. Sham and Rogues could get good use, but we get more.

Just like DBW is better in the hands of a War, Rogue, DK, Hunter, before any paladin.

Mirror of Truth is better than NES, pls get rid of that trinket.

DC/DV is pro, from ToC. Whispering Fang Skull from 10ICCC LDW is good also.

DMC:Greatness is also very good still.

Alright lol, I'll get rid of the NES. Thanks for the advice.

You can kill the encounter where it drops.

That is not anywhere close to being equal to a) seeing it drop, and then once it actually drops b) winning it by whatever loot methods your group uses.

Then as bad as it sounds, you've got shit luck. How does your guild distribute loot? If it's by rolls, fuck that, tell them to do a loot council.

That's fine and I agree with you, but that doesn't change what you do when you simply can't get something better.

For toc25 I run gdkp and have plenty of gold to buy it. The stupid thing just doesn't want to drop.

To assume you can just go get DC/DV is one of the least helpful suggestions I see from people who post trinket responses.

Of course everyone wants it. Much more helpful is what you do while you wait.

the fact that everyone flames at paladins for rolling on DWB is because it is a far better trinket for warrs/rogues/druids and hunters. this trinket is least favored to paladins, so if any of the other classes needs them, it would be retarded for a paladin to roll on it.

i think DV and TAJ are the best trinkets for ret paladins.
    ??? DWB = DEATH'S WILLBRINGER ???

those are the procs for plate users if i'm not wrong
The trinket doesn't proc ArP anymore.

You get 600 str (taunka), 600 crit (Iron dwarf), or 600 haste (vykrul)

    cheers! =O

    Re: Trinket's Choice

I lost the roll on DBW to a pally once, he rolled 87, I did 85, the master looter gave to him

later, in that same raid, I inspect him, only to see mirror of truth + herkuml

I have no idea where the trinket went
    Dear developers,

please nerf Rock, it's too overpowered. Paper is fine, however.
    Signed, Scissors.

    Re: Trinket's Choice

sounds like he sold it to someone in the same raid.

Similar situation I was in. Shaman in my raid got TaJ. I ran with him yesterday, he's using WarToken and DV. I WAS FURIOUS. His fuckin worthless and I knew TaJ would be wasted on him, but RL didn't listen to me. I'm still pissed.

So, hypothetically, if this piece dropped tonight and I won it, it would be an upgrade over NES, but how much of an upgrade? Is it worth it to spend the dkp on it and replace it later or just keep my DC, get Mirror and roll with that til I get TAJ?

Over NES it would be about as big of an upgrade as it would be over an empty trinket slot. That is to say, MASSIVE, and completely necessary.

Do everything you can to get this trinket.

    Re: Trinket's Choice

spend dkp on it? no. Not unless I knew I would never kill putricide.

In a setting with a relatively stable guild and using dkp, I would give that a big no.

PUGs or gdkp? sure go nuts.

This is absurd advice. Passing on a BiS trinket that you likely wont get rid of until raiding in Cataclysm is ridiculous.

considering he said "...and roll with that til I get TAJ?"

I thought he was referring to dbw.

If it's TAJ, absolutely pick it up.
