Yeah, I saw this other thread about who's your favourite guitarist. So I decided to make a topic about your favourite drummer.
My vote goes to Mike Portnoy and The Rev!
Your turn! :

My respect to you The Rev was my hero and Mike Portnoy is just insane. Really hope the new A7X album sounds great, R.I.P. JimmyOriginally Posted by PANDALOL

If at first you don't Succeed....then you fail.
I'd go with Portnoy and Peart too and I'll add Mike Mangini and Buddy Rich as they're both brilliant as well.
It's close, but in the end Peart is probably the best.

I don't have a clear favourite seeing how different drummers excel at different kinds of things. Kai Hahto and Joey Jordison to name few are very fast and perhaps technical while some others show their teeth in more progressive or overall slower styles that require different talent.
Currently I'm probably enjoying Jan Axel Blomberg's performances the most, having listened Arcturus quite a bit.
Anyone can recommend me some great jazz drummers to check out? It's a somewhat unknown genre for me, but I know there are some exceptional pianists and drummers to be found in jazz.
John Dolmayan from System of a Down
Rob Bourdon from Linkin Park
John Bengtson from Sonic Syndicate.
Bites the dust, another one does.

Gavin Harrison of Porcupine Tree and Danny Carey of Tool are definitely my favourites. If your serious about drumming and haven't heard of Gavin, check him out on youtube.
Fav Drummer/s: Peart, Portnoy, Bonham, Grohl (No Specific Order)
At above: Gavin Harrison + Porcupine Tree = Awesome
