and sorry if this has already been discussed
It makes you a shadow
+
Assume a Shadowform, increasing your Shadow damage by 15%, reducing all damage done to you by 15% and threat generated by 30%. Of course this may change in Cataclysm because those are more like passive benefits which they want to get rid of.
Shadowform
32% of base mana
Instant cast 1.5 sec cooldown
Assume a Shadowform, turning you transparently purple and embodying the evil within you, increasing damage done by your Shadow spells by 15%, reducing all damage done to you by 15% and threat generated by 30%, and making all spells and abilities spawn pink fluffy kitties that will despawn your Shadowfiend when used. However, you may not cast Holy spells while in this form except Cure Disease and Abolish Disease. Grants the periodic damage from your Shadow Word: Pain, Devouring Plague, and Vampiric Touch spells the ability to critically hit for 100% increased damage. In addition, whenever Shadow Word: Death is cast, a boomkin will appear to cast Starfireomgpewpew at your target. This effect has an internal cooldown of 3 seconds. Shadowform lasts until cancelled or until Ressurection (Rank 42) is cast on Michael Jackson. Shadowform will also be dispelled if Frostmourne drops, is disenchanted, is enchanted, is painted, is looted to a hunter or if Beyonce has one of the best weapons of all time. Shadowform has not one, but two ranks.

It already does a lot of stuff, which could change or be added to.
Nom Nom Nom [NNF] (2 points) - When you Ferocious Bite a target at or below 25% health, you have a 50/100% chance to instantly refresh the duration of your Rip on the target.
Incorrect, they wanted to remove talents which gave ONE passive benefit. Shadowform gives 3 different ones.Originally Posted by ExarKun

One design goal for cataclysm was to get rid of all the kitchen sink talents. By that, blizzard means talents they assume absolutely all members of a given specc will take anyway, so when they feel a specc is underperforming, they can just add some more to that talent.
For holypriests, this talent is called Divine Providence. Disc has quite a few of them.
Shadowpriests are mostly using the shadowform for this purpose. Which is the reason why the shadowform tooltip has been used as a filibuster.
Expect shadowform - and talents in general - to do one thing in cataclysm. In case of shadowform: +15% shadow damage.
Shadowform is there to give you extra DPS at the cost of your healing ability. Nothing more.
The other effects - like damage reduction, allowance to cast cure disease, threat reduction and all that - those make for some GREAT new talents in a tree that is mostly going to be redesigned anyway.

Im just guessing here but what if they think to change it like they will change Tree of life for druids ?
make it become some sort of Metamorphosis , but for priests
god pls dont say that lol
Shadowform isn't there to buff spriests. It's there to prevent spriests from healing. Because, a specc that can heal and do dps (elemental shaman says hello) is obviously totally OP. >Obviously<. Er. Or something. I mean, don't you just hate those spriest op'ness when they always drop shadowform and totally heal the raid and tank single handedly after the real healers ate fire?Originally Posted by Syro

Aaanyway. That's the reasoning at least. It's not a buff. It's a balancing act. If shadowform added 10000% shadowdamage, then you would still be balanced around that. The only result is that healing priest swain would tick for 12 damage at lvl 85.

No, they want to get rid of talents that are basically "Do a bit more damage", "Do a bit more healing", "Take a little less damage" in some form of boring way. Shadowform is exactly the kind of talent they want to keep. It gives you an entirely new ability that radically changes your playstyle. Sure, it'll probably be doing less in Cataclysm, but at least it won't be doing more damage with massive wall of text crits than all your other abilities combined any more.Originally Posted by Danner
i personally would like to see them incorporate the shadow orbs into shadowform someway that would be nice i doubt this would be possible i just havent heard blizzard even mention anything about this topic so i thought id ask yall
shadowform will stay but maybe not in its current form as it separates shadow preists from healing there might be a deeper shadowform that changes you and alters spells but you never know until they release more details about shadowform >.>

Shadowform is supposed to separate us from Healing Priests. That's sort of the point. They are even making it so that we can not dispel Diseases while in Shadowform any more, so they do want to keep it a separate playstyle with bonuses and downsides.
I shall die here. Every inch of me shall perish. Every inch, but one. An inch. It is small and it is fragile and it is the only thing in the world worth having. We must never lose it or give it away. We must never let them take it from us.
i'll go verify the disease dispellign thing , coz it would make it kinda exeptioanally harder for spriests in 2v2 esp versus rogues that switch to disese daggers on the fly and other spreists and gasp non-unholy dk's(who are still a pain to beat even while dispelling diseases like a mad man).Originally Posted by Abandon
It would make spriests more dependednt on heals and support classes that can dispel these and thus place even more emphasis on 3v3.
