I use http://www.wowhead.com/item=47732 and my bro won http://www.wowhead.com/item=49990 from lady deathwhisper. He didnt know if he should bid on it or not, but he bidded. How much better is this ring and how is crit/spirit for mages?

Yep, even if it doesn't have optimal stats, it's better than Invoker (for arcane as well) (invoker isn't exactly optimal either though)
