    Realy LOW FPS please help

    Hello guys
i am curently running a AMD 5400+ dual core with 4gb ram nVidia 8800 GT 512 ram on windows 7
the problem is that in dalaran i get max 12-15 FPS , out in the world 20fps and in 10 or 25 man raids i play around with 5-6 fps, and while i am a MT this might be a problem.

Just so you know first time i played wow on this computer 1.5 -2 years ago i think i remember i had over 40fps or such. since then altho my windows 7 in on a separate partition and it just been installed for 3 weeks now, the WoW directory is on a partition and on a hard drive that hasent been formated for..hmm 5 years now, so i am still playing the same wow i did when i first started.
i have 3 hdds in my computer with summin over 700gb with maybe 30gb free memory if i am lucky.
am i getting this low fps from the hdds or not? i am asking this because if you start saying "dude omg format that hdd" and that doesnt work i will lose a shit loads of data i am not quite ready to lose just yet.

i set the options in the nvidia control panel to application preferances but there is no improvement what so ever.
in game the details are at medium-low with low on the shadow detail and still dont getting anything, and i belive my PC should be running WoW on high with no problems

Also i am using quite some many addons and i have between 80-100mbs of memory usage as i see from fubar performace.

what are my options here? lose some addons like recount and many others, format my hdds make some changes on the video card control panel?
    any help would be appreciated
    thank you

Re: Realy LOW FPS please help

Please provide the dxdiag information as Nixia stated.

Also, when was the last time you defragmented your hard drives? Not that it would cause that type of problem, but if you haven't modified your partition in 5 years and haven't run a defrag, I'd be afraid to look at that drive.

Also, you say AMD 5400+. Is that an AMD Athlon 64 x2 5400+? 4GB RAM, but what type? DDR2 800MHz?

If you are running the AMD Athlon 64 x2 5400+, that's a dual core 2.8GHz CPU. Coupled with a still-decent 8800 GT, you shouldn't be seeing that low of framerate. When was the last time you updated your: BIOS, chipset drivers, video driver, sound driver, and Windows installation (Windows Updates)?

Re: Realy LOW FPS please help

Your chipset drivers appear to be from 7/14/09. Do you know what brand/model of motherboard you have?

Also, your video drivers are from January. That's not too horribly out of date, but here is a link to the latest Win7 64-bit drivers for the 8000 series of nVidia cards.

Re: Realy LOW FPS please help

i am updating my video drivers atm and the motherboard is Asus M2N-E SLI, socket AM2 and also found out what RAM i got and its Mushkin Dual Pack 2x 2GB, XP2-6400.
think i read somewhere about one of the latest nvidia drivers that have problems with overheating the card when playing wow, dont know tho if its about this driver 197.45

Re: Realy LOW FPS please help

The drivers with the fan controller issues were pulled from the nVidia website about a month ago.

[edit: Here is a link to your most up to date chipset drivers.]

Re: Realy LOW FPS please help

ok so both drivers are nou up to date and
same place in dlaran as 10 min ago with old drivers the same 10-12 fps
went and disabled all my addons and now i have in the exact same spot 30 fps
still isnt 30 fps low for my configuration condidering the lvl of details are at medium-low?
i am preatty much a addon freak and i just dont get teh same satisfaction if i play without them
here is a list of what i use maybe you can reconize one or more that would make me lose 20 fps
thank you by the way for all your help and promtitude.

    here is the image link
    http://img13.imageshack.us/img13/6932/pozeaddons.png
i dont use all of them but about 90%...tell me what to lose to get better performace?
    thank you

EDIT: still sitting in dalaran with no addons while i wrote this post and now the fps is 24-25
    that is still low right?
outside dalaran flying its on 75 ms
i think the problem is the addons rly

New EDIt: i disabled the not so mandatory addons and i got 25-27 fps in dlaran with 45 outside flying and the addon memory usage is from 90-100 to 45 mb

Re: Realy LOW FPS please help

The biggest framerate killer tends to be multisampling. In your video options, try setting it down to 1X or 2X multisample (assuming you're at 8X or 4X).

For your addons, probably the biggest one that will hurt you in Dalaran is Gearscore. Try disabling that and see how your framerate is.

Re: Realy LOW FPS please help

There is 2 things I can think of:

    -Overheating
    -Lack of windows updates

Monitor your GPU/CPU temps while gaming and make sure you have a look at what they are when you are experiencing the lowest fps. GPU shouldn't be getting higher than 100*C and 70*C for the CPU.

Run windows update and install some critical updates, you never know...
[23:43:22] [P] [85:Bowsjob]: If its between 2 holy pallys its gonna be a gear fight most likely

You may just have too many addons that have high memory usages. Also, Shock and Awe (addon) sometimes causes lag. Why? I have no idea. But in combat after a month of using it with no lag at all, it decided to drop to 2-3 fps. I never changed anything, just logged off and logged on.

(It is working now with no lag)
