this has nothing to do with you getting in beta, this is more or less a hint that beta or friends and family alpha is coming.Originally Posted by Dark Side

Seems as though Beta by the end of April isn't going to happen. Hopefully this *was* a sign that it is coming sooner than later, rather than an internal testing function.
Not surprised here. Already figured it wasn't something to make a big deal out of.Originally Posted by Blizzard Entertainment
i never thought it was beta but he doesn't specify what they were testing so that something could really be something.Originally Posted by Alayea

It has nothing to do with your system specs. Well, it may have a little to do with it, but not in the scenario you're stating. How is it that I have a 9800 GTX, 3G DDR3 RAM, Windows 7, and an Athlon 64 x2 4200, yet I haven't had a beta invite for SC2? Yet my friend has 2g Ram, Vista, a Geforce 8400GS, and an Athlon 54 3500+, yet he DID get an SC2 beta invite?Originally Posted by smuticus
Hint: It's random. Just like WoTLK. Me and my friends opted-in at the same time (Being real-life friends, we live in the same city also), and while I have a better computer, the others got in weeks before I did.
I'll not spend my days glancing over my shoulder for assassins. Let them look back for me. --Elbryan, the Nightbird.
Please be beta please lol I'll be so happy lol
Keep in mind that for WoTLK they didn't require your specs in order to opt in. That's why WoTLK was random among all people who opted in. With the new opt-in that requires computer specs, it is no longer random and they pick certain samples of people with certain specs they want the game tested on.Originally Posted by buttspawn
For your friend who got the invite when you didn't, maybe at the time of the invite wave they only sent it to people with your friend's type of computer.
Hint: They send invites to people who have computers that they want the game tested on.
You know when we find something out that blizzard doesn't want you to know? they will release a couple of pets up for sale and throw a smoke bomb.

Arena Tournament doesn't need a copy, because you get to create a new one. (read the Faq on this)
Either it's an enitrely different event, a test needed for the battle.net chat merge (duh highly unlikely), or they are testing if the link of the cataclysm beta account to your live account is working correctly. (it's likely, that they will add a "new" game, i.e. account, for beta, not upgrade your current WoW account. Thus there needs to be a link between those two, else you could only start with premades)
Some clarifications (or not) about the purpose of the BlizzCon event realm:
[blizzquote="Charlesps;http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=24401487949&sid=1&pageNo=1#5]No, probably a flag that was set incorrectly. We have used it in the past for Blizzcon. Not the last one because we were introducing the new races for Cataclysm and that was the focus. I believe the 2 before that used it.[/blizzquote"]
Still, that incorrectly set flag implies that they're messing with the character copy stuff, so they're doing something.
