What I want to know is, why is everything labeled BETA and even have an open page about Beta, but when WotLK F&F Alpha started there were no pages the public could view.

Also, the F&F Alpha logo actually said "Friends and Family Alpha". What did Blizzard get lazy and just make it say Beta so they don't have to change it when Beta actually starts? ???

they said they reached out to their sources who confirmed that barring no crisis the F&F began jan 12

far as I know there was no crisis. and that update only confirmed that the disc image might be faked. but it was not proven

Why is everyone calling it the FnF Alpha? (Not just mmo, but twitter, etc.) This is a Beta test, not an Alpha. No one does external Alpha testing, and Alphas are really ugly to look at since it's mostly just mechanics testing.

I am a little confused why MMO-Champion is highlighting this as the Alpha, when the artwork and information on the actual blizzard site (and the things people have dug up) all say Beta :s

He's calling it the Alpha until there's an official announcement for the Beta. He doesn't want to get people excited, and then have them fall for fake e-mails and beta scams.

It appears it's because it IS the F&F Alpha testing. Alpha doesn't mean "inside".. it simply means first round of testing. Who and how they choose peeps is their own business.

With that said.. it is UNLIKELY this is the beginning of the OPT-In Beta selection/participation.

I suggest you firmly grasp both sides of your britches.
