There may be gear with Arp that's bis for Ret Palas, but that's despite the gear having Arp on them, not because of it.
I don't hate you. I'm just not necessarily excited about your existence.

Never never ever never ever NEVER hog ArP as retardin! NEVER! It's ok if it comes along with great stats (like with Shadow's Edge or the plate boots from Lady Deathwhisper), but it is never "good" for retadin, eg. never gem it.

Considering we're a plate class, ArP is going to be on our gear. By no means should you stack it, but its not entirely the worst thing in the world for you. Just the least desirable stat lol.

Just try to make a BiS, that doesn't have any ArP items:
It's impossible, because ArP is everywhere so you'll end up far over the Exp/Hit caps, the only exception would be items with haste/crit on them, who are pretty rare outside of Ret T10.

And on topic: ArP is about the as Spirit is on caster gear - we don't want it - we don't like it - but it still increases our DPS - so we take it.

It's not like the other stats outweights the ArP on the BiS list. Saying ArP does not contribute to our dps is a lie. However it is our least desirable stat because it only boosts (to my understanding) Melee / Crusader Strike and Divine Storm, so that's 3 out of 7 damage sources.

Physical classes (Warriors, Rogue, BloodDK, hunters, kitties) benefit from it more because a better part (more than 50%) of their dps is PURE physical damage.

Back in BC we had the same discussion about Ret and spellpower being a good dps stat. It's not that it wasn't a dps stat, but someone who geared for Str/crit for the same stat budget would get a higher dps than someone who geared towards spellpower.

When youre hit, exp, crit and AP capped... Aw, there is no AP cap...

When looking at my friends recount against a boss like OS10 3D melee is around 30-40% of total dmg...

Str in red, str/crit in yellow and str/sta or nightmare tear in blue if the bonus is good enough. Otherwise slap a 20 str in blue

    Check the OPs gear.

He has a leather belt (presumably for the ARP), and his boots have a rare gem in the blue socket (presumably, cause rare gems are blue)

The Ret FAQ @ http://www.mmo-champion.com/class-pa...n-paladin-faq/ (conveniently copied from Ronark's signature) should have all the information you need.
