Re: Shoul Blizzard introduce a lottery ingame?

They need an in game betting arena. NPCs and or player go in and battle for a small purse or go NPC vs NPC for total RNG matches. This would be fun, and once every week or two their would be a boos vs boss epic long fight requiring higher bets and such would be great

A neat little idea. Would be like horse races where you have set odds on the encounter. It'd be a reason to finally use the arena in Orgimmar (the arena map doesn't count since you're zoning out). It would be a queue thing where you talk to a battlemaster, then you're placed in the arena and everyone can watch, but can't affect the outcome.

I made an Icy Prism on my DK yesterday in hopes of an epic gem.
    I got some blue gems.
I gambled my mats to get certain gems and didn't get them.

Ban jewelcrafting, it's a terrible gamble for my ingame resources.

I agree, this would be sweet.
I wouldn't say allow betting on player battles though, because it would be cause for people to throw games.
Make it all NPC and all RNG within the confines of the game mechanics and it cannot be exploited by players.

Re: Shoul Blizzard introduce a lottery ingame?

We run lottery rolls during our guild raids, no one is forced to play, and if you don't pay up you don't get to play (the lotto) anymore. I find it to be fun, and a decent way to pass time when someone is taking a bio break. SO far I have yet to see any fights over it, typically the people who play have little use for in-game gold anymore anyway.

Whether they should or should not implement it in game is debatable. I don't see any issue with it, but a lot of people are anti-gambling so I imagine it would see lots of negative reviews.

50Golds to enter and just like the real world you would have a minor chance at winning the mega pot. (Each server having their own pot.)

As any form of gambling in-game is against the rules, no, they would not.

A roleplaying guild meant for gambling was warned about it and not allowed to do it.

I'd think that it would be better with an exclusive item as the prize as opposed to gold, new prize every month meaning that 8 people (on average) would win the item every month whilst retaining some rarity.
    Skullmaster - Slathe - Duat - Tamriel

Absolutely everything happens for a reason - Omnia Causa Fiunt.

But this is because people were using "gambling" techniques to spam people, for example, they would never give the people their wins, or something like that. And it is far more easier to simply forbid the players from running such casinos, which in many cases were simply scams, than to try to seperate the honest ones from the scammers, especially since even honest ones could have a disconnect, or something like that.

It does not mean that Blizzard does not like gambling and chances, it simply means that they do not want to spend all their time with people scamming other people. But a Blizzard-Run lottery could hardly be used as a scam.

Actually, this is also a reason why gambling is strictly regulated in many countries. Scamming is basically gamblings second nature, and if every guy and his dog could run a casino, you can be damn sure that not every of those would play fair. Oh, and the addiction thing, but i believe that is secondary.

And no, as many stated before, real world gambling laws would not be a problem in wow, except maybe those rating stuff, but i do not believe that there are many countries that would consider slaughtering stuff more suitable for children than a lottery.

as wow gold can, rather famously, be traded for real life money (just like poker chips or a competition prize) its not quite that simple.

Mannoroth nodded. "The warrior shows much promise... I would see more of his kind, learn their potential..." WoTA
