    Known Profession Additions Sticky

    Professions
A lot of recipes are available but so far I don't have any stats or items, I'll just list the enchants and the useful things for the moment.

    Alchemy

    Enchanting

    First Aid

    Herbalism
    • Herb Gathering - How to find and gather Cataclysm herbs. Gives a potential herbalism skill of 525. / 5 yd range
    • Lifeblood - Uses your skill in Herbalism to absorb energy and nutrients from the earth, healing you for 7200 (increased by maximum health) over 5 sec. Can be used while stealthed or invisible. / 3 min cooldown

    Mining
    • Mining - You are an Illustrious Grand Master Miner. Gives a potential mining skill of 525. / 5 yd range
    • Toughness - All your hard work spent mining has made you exceptionally tough, increasing your Stamina by 120. /
    • Smelt Ebonsteel - Allows the miner to smelt pyrium bars and obsidian shards to create ebonsteel. Requires a forge. Creates Item #53039. / Reagents: Item #51950 x 10, Item #52327 x 10
    • Smelt Pyrite - Allows the miner to smelt a chunk of pyrite ore into a pyrium bar. Smelting requires a forge. Creates Item #51950. / Reagents: Item #52183 x 2

    Re: Known Profession Additions Sticky

Ok I was browsing the blacksmithing and enchanting sections and I found:

    Mining/Blacksmithing
Obsidian is new Cobalt, Miners can't smelt it, only Blacksmiths can 'Cut' it into useul pieces.
Pyrite is the new Saronite, this is Smelted
Ebonsteel is a combination of 10 Pyrium and 10 Pieces of Earth
Elementium is an Ore that can be smelted with 10 ores and 20 'Pieces of Earth', essentially skipping the level of Titanium and going stright to Titansteel level of awesome.

From the blacksmithing recipes I'm guessing because there's 2 sets of gear Ornate Pyrium and Bloodied Prium, that they are the new PvP craftables, if they were PvE there would be 3 sets (Healer, DPS, Tank) instead of (DPS, Heal).

A new Ebonsteel Belt Buckle, possibly allow you to have a 2 extra sockets on your belt.

    Tailoring
Embersilk is the new cloth, it can be made into bolts, bandages and converted into Pieces of Fire and Water
from the descriptions the Epic Cloth is called Dreamcloth and can be made in a variety of ways but only once a week each. (If you want to make more then 1 a week you'll need to farm rep/gold etc for more recipes.)
Fiery Silk Gland, possibly replacing Iceweb Silk.
The New Icons show of Spellcloth, Shadowcloth and Mooncloth

    Enchanting
New enchanting shards are Heavenly Shards, with Celestial Essences

    Leathworking
New Leather is called Savage Leather, also from the icons there will be Pristine Leather there seems to be rare scale like item and a pink glowing item, possibly the Fire equivalent of Arctic Fur

    Jewelcrafting
    Colour: Uncommon, Rare
Red: Carnelian, Inferno Ruby - Bold, Brilliant, Delicate, Flashing, Precise (Str, Int, Agi, Parry, Expertise)
    Purple: Nightstone, Demon's Eye
Blue: Zephyrite, Ocean Sapphire - Rigid, Solid, Sparkling, Stormy (Hit, Sta, Spirit, Spell Pen)
    Green: Jasper, Dream Emerald
Yellow: Alicite, Amberjewel - Factured, Mystic, Quick, Smooth, Sublte ({Arm Pen}, Resil, Haste, Crit, Dodge)
    Orange: Hessonite, Ember Topaz

Factured is more likely to be the new Mastery gem or removed, because Armor Pen is no longer in the game except in talents.
Can combine 3 of all 6 (18 uncommons in total) into a Fire Prism (cata version of Icy Prism)

    Meta: Shadowspirit
    New Super Gem: Chimera's Eye

Jewelcrafter get quite a few fancy head pieces like Rhinestone Sunglasses and Emerald Monocles, dunno if these are game-play items but they'd probably look 'snazzy'

    Alchemy
Prepare for a new set of Alchemist Stones (check Icons there's 3 different icons for alchemist stones A,B and C)

    Herbalism

May be giving a Sprint ability alongside the healing over time ability, from the look of an icon called Lifegivingspeed

    Engineering

    Nothing new at this time.

    Inscription

Nothing Concrete, but alot of Icons are have old names like the Deck of Beasts, could mean just new icons or even more classic stuff being renamed.

    Misc.

I believe there are only 1 set of elementals (no longer Eternal and Crystalized) that will stack up to 100 or so.

Haven't read through the whole thing yet, but i think by the looks of it, my guess is you skipped something that was lacking in WotLK. Obsidian, if it can't be smelted, but cut, seems like the old school stone materials from Vanilla. Maybe it'll be used for things like Sharpening stones, and Weightstones.... God i hope so...

In relation to this, i'm not sure of anything beyond that, so i'll just wait and see, but in summation, it seems like the new stone.

It's used in alot of the most basic 450-475 weapons and armor so your assumptions are wrong.

    Re: Known Profession Additions Sticky

I am hoping that they bring back the epic'ness of professions like BS in this expansion as well. It seems to me that if professions continued to gain pattarns (even if the mats were retarded to obtain) that allowed a craft of items that kept up with raid content it would be much better.

BS should always have been to make BOP weapons that were on par with the best out of 25 man normal content at the least. Same with armor from the other professions (which they do now, but not enough IMO) with the new ICC pattarns. Doing this would make having or leveling those professions much more rewarding.

I look forward to the BS pattarns as soon as someone can get them!!

    Where's engineering?
I can't advocate insanity to everyone, but it's always worked for me.

    I hope so

Skinning/Mining/Herb should get another buff to make them not useless in comparison to JC's super gems and BS's extra sockets

It seems more likely this is a haste buff than a run speed buff, given that engineering already has an ability that does this; haste is likely to be more valuable to a whole range of classes with the changes in Cataclysm.
