Can't remember the sources, but I think that wall is above Deathknell, protecting a reinforced Scarlet base.

Yea, that is by Solliden Farmstead, apparently the Scarlets decided to do some building too while everyone was in Northrend.

i wouldn't read to much into it, its likely to be a remnant hold out at best and a necessary precursor to SM which still exists.
