Re: PvE moonkin guide (updated for 3.3.3)

Typhoon should be there in the spec, yes, but in the rotation is another thing completely. Situationally, as mentioned, it has its place, but I'd never go out of my way to use it when moving, as either dot will do more damage in most situations, and I believe even dashing out would be a bigger dps increase.

Its potential utility compared to another point in OF or Gale winds, there's simply no question.

Here is some usefull Power Aura notifications that I have put together and found.
To add them to your Power Aura, type /powa and go to Global 1, then you press import and copy paste my links beneath into the Power Aura bar on WoW.
I suggest you to try it out on a test dummy so you get to know the signs and get used to them, if you have any questions feel free to ask me for help or post in this thread.

This will be a lot of text as this is a lot of info to be added, feel free to add it as a spoiler kind if it works.

My argument is not to use it EVERY time you move, but, like FB with Feral, use it when it is conditionally good to. That being said, I think that Typhoon should be part of the cookie-cutter Balance build.

If you can find me the original thread, I am post there instead of posting on your guide.
I agree with that, and I have Typhoon in my build as well. But as you might see in the Typhoon thread, I argue greatly for an unglyphed Typhoon. I surely wouldn't want to even dare using Typhoon on DW's adds if I'm moving from ghosts. That sounds like suicide. It is also - i might add - useless damage.

Anyways, the thread is here: http://www.mmo-champion.com/class-dr...on-discussion/

    Nice guide, almost complete!
But i have a question about dots:
I often proc raidbuffed continuous eclipse, without time to refresh the related dot. So how's your suggestion? Sticking with the cast of wrath/starfire until the eclipse ends(unless the idol proc is falling off)or refresh the mf/is on the first second of the lunar/solar eclipse?
    Thanks.

    Very nice write-up Qieth!
I think you can grant yourself a sticky for that ;-)

Very easy. Use the dot while you are waiting if eclipse procced or not.
Example: You cast your first Starfire after Lunar. Directly after it, you queue a IS, and during the GCD you see whether you procced Solar or not. Otherwise, you either have to wait for the proc (which is bad) or you cast another Starfire, which can be less damage than Wrath if Solar did proc.

I tried to cover this in the guide. First off, you should not be using BOTH dots at the same time. You use IS when you are trying to proc solar eclipse, and MF when you are trying to proc lunar eclipse. So as you are coming out of lunar eclipse, you cast one starfire that will land outside of eclipse, then do your IS. In this GCD you can see if eclipse procced, and go straight into wrath. This optimizes your damage. Likewise, when you are finishing up on solar, cast a couple of wraths and then an MF, and use the MF GCD to see if lunar eclipse procced.

Okay, if i have my Wrath Eclipse going and my IS is falling off, is it worth for me to refresh it?

Is GoStarfall really better than GoIS ?

I was just wandering cos i changed for GoSF, cos i like cast SF often and see a lot of damages on my screen. But i'm ready to give that up if it's a dps decrease.

What do u think guys ?

Re: PvE moonkin guide (updated for 3.3.3)

First of all, make sure you don't mix up Starfall and Starfire. Short answer: Yes.

Long answer: The most optimal glyph are Starfall, Starfire and Moonfire. Starfire and Moonfire works together to make MF into a very long DOT. When the choice is between glyph of Starfall and Glyph of Insect Swarm, Starfall is BY FAR the biggest damage ability you have in your arsenal. My Insect Swarm (unglyphed) does around 8500 damage. Glyphed it would do 11050. My starfire against a *single target* probably does around 50.000 damage. You can do 4 insect swarms in a minute, which would be 44200 damage.

Unfortunately, you do no more than ~2 insect swarms per minute, as you don't use Insect Swarm for Lunar Eclipse. This gives you an actual DPMinute of ~22100 damage with a glyphed insect swarm, compared to 50.000+ DPminute with Starfall against a single target.

Re: PvE moonkin guide (updated for 3.3.3)

I just realized that my rotation wasnt good, cos i refresh IS as soon as it goes off.

Well i'll try that new rotation to see if my dps increase.

    Btw, thx for answering me

I haven't read through it all, but I will, and carefully, when I get my Balance druid to level 80, which should be soon. I couldn't be bothered to respec Balance on my main druid, so I made a new one. x3

Ah, well, what I have read looks really nice, so, so far I'd say this is an awesome guide. Thanks for posting this up, Qieth.

I was Moonkin-ing all wrong. Except for /dance.

Thank you for the helpful infos.

I do have a question, what kind of modified rotation do you use in heroics? Stuff simply dies too fast for Starfire, although, maybe my haste is just too low. What do you guys do in heroics? Just Wrath shtuff?

I don't think there is any specific way of rotating in a Heroic... everything dies is seconds no matter what you cast.
Never fully dot up trash, keep either a IS or MF active on 1 target to keep up your Relic, and then just spam Wrath or SF depending on where you're at in your rotation. On bosses you just do the normal rotation.
Then he fapped to his own pseudo-intellectualism and no one ever loved him. Ever.

I really don't bother with dots in heroics, even though it can keep my relic going. Its usually either two starfires or four wraths, but I do tend to just switch target rather often. Most pulls are 3-4 mobs, so when one is getting so low that I dont think I can get another cast through, i switch to another target. In either case, banging your head against a wall while pressing one will also do the job for heroics :P
