Just got into a discussion with a guy after I ToC25 I hosted.
I used Group Roll, meaning I roll 1-5 and whichever group wins gets to roll.
He meant that "oh all the pro pugs uzes group give because it is so cooolz"
Basically, you give 1 trophy to each group and they get to roll.
He whined because 2 groups won 2 trophies by fair rolling.
So well, I asked him to explain, why is Group Giving better then Group Rolling?
He then said "Everyone have equal chance of winning". Then I tried to explain for him that everyone got exactly the same chance of winning in Group Rolling.
You see
5(1/5)*(1/5) = 1/5
That was basically the only thing he had to say.
Now, here comes my point of view why Group Rolling is better.
1. If e.g. group 1 rolls ( with group give ), and then a guy loose the trophies, his group got 0% chance of another trophy. If he doesnt need any more gear, he can easily LEAVE. So Group Rolling leads to less leavers
2. If someone goes offline and you replace him. You dont have to worry in which group the new guy comes into. Like, group 2 already rolled, now a new guy comes in, and he ends up in group 2. Now he got 0% chance of winning. That wont happen in Group Roll.
3. As a raid leader I can move people to whatever group I like without having to worry "Oh, that group already rolled".
4. It makes it much more fun, sometimes you get lucky some times you don't.
5. Its still exactly 1/5 chance for everyone.
So what you guys think? Group Roll or Group give?
