    What programs do you guys use? Know of any free ones that capture in near-HD quality?

    I used Game Cam a while back, it could record very decent quality and had no limit to how long clips it could record... I think they changed it, put a limit on the length of clips though.

    FRAPS for 1080 quality filming and SONY Vegas 9.0 Pro for editing it. Not the cheapest way... but suits for me.

    Adobe After Effects for.. Well, cool effects.
    MAGIX Movie Edit Pro 16 HD for editing.

    i use 2 ways

    either a box that records anything sent over HDMI or i clone my desktop to a TV and then use a camera to record that,

    WOW has a built in video recorder if you play on a Mac. And it goes up to your max resolution! Waiting for "Mac's suck!" now...
