Trying to find a childhood cartoon

When I was a kid, I saw this cartoon. I remember very little from it, but for years I've been trying to come up with an idea of what it might be. It is most likely more than 15 years old, probably more. I'm trying to find it for nostalgic reasons.

The story is about a teddybear. An old teddybear. It lives in a play room with other toys. Something happens. Then something else. I think at some point the Teddybear is so old that it is thrown out. I seem to recall that one of the teddy's eyes (buttons) are hanging by a string. Then there is a fairy, I think. The teddy is found, brought back in, and the eye is sown back in place. It lives happily everafter in the playroom and so on and so on.

Does this ring a bell? Anyone? :P

    Corduroy?

I think that's the movie, there was a TV series that ran for a year or two.

Probably not it but this is about a teddy bear that loses a button on his overalls and searches for it. Likely not what you're looking for but taking a shot.

Nay! Sunshine poked me on IRC, and filled in the blanks:

"Robert is convinced that his toy rabbit is real. When he contracts scarlet fever, the rabbit is considered the cause of the illness, and ordered to be burned. He is saved from "death" by a fairy who turns him into a real live rabbit."

Its "The Velveteen Rabbit", an old childrens story. Now, it seems like there was two cartoons produced in 1985. One of them must be the one I saw. Seems impossible to find them on Youtube and the like. If anyone has anything lying around, let me know!

    I win!

It's not a bear -- it's the Velveteen Rabbit. One of my favorite books when I was a kid, and there were 3 different cartoons made of it in 1985.

    For one, see youtube:
