    Damage per second formula

    hello,
What's the DPS formula? damage done in combat divided by combat time.
So, why if someone does more damage in same time as another person, get's lower DPS? f/e Locks and mages, in comparison.

Or, maybe it takes out and crosses the time you are not doing anything? how is that even possible?

It ignores time that you're not actually causing damage. It probably works programmatically by realizing you haven't done anything in X seconds, and not counting anything until you start again.

If it's on recount it's compared to the time u spend atacking the boss. which is why dots classes often have lower dps on recount. atleast thats what I have seen

Damage done>dps dont ever look at dps. Some1 can blow all their stuff at the beginning ie mages, then be oom for 20 sec and dont be doing anything.

It depends on the meter dps on recount is damage done/active time as is the base one on world of logs but wol also has effective dps which is time from pull to boss dead instead of active time so that effective dps is just fine in comparison to damage done because they are the exact same just in different format.
