Weapon speed doesn't matter at all since speed in both cat and bearform. Take the weapon with better stats, ignore weapon speed.

Correction/addition: in almost all cases, a greater feral attack power outweighs all other stats.

Ironically, feral attack power eventually is evaluated from, among other things, the weapon speed after all - this is because what you see as the DPS of a weapon actually only is a virtual stat, too, just like feral attack power. Besides the base and 'green' stats, the weapon only stats minimum damage, maximum damage and speed, both DPS and FAP are just rounded evaluations.

This is incorrect. Feral attack power is calculated from DPS and is not affected by weapon speed. The feral attack power show on the weapon is what you get and weapon damage and speed are not taken into account when in cat or bear form.

    This.

DPS on weapons is a function of their item level only.
Every 251 weapon, as an example, will have 267dps (and thus 2974 FAP), no matter their attack speed.

The weapon attack speed enters the picture only to calculate the damage range for weapon users, as a function based on the DPS itself, which is the first fixed stat.

For ferals, what matters is the weapon Item Level, and secondary its stats.

    Yeah right...

Of course they aim the min/maxdmg&speed to produce a similar DPS for all 1H/2H weapons of the same itemlevel, and nowadays many weapons have the same speed and damage range, but when not, there's always a slight disparity. That e.g. Hersir and Shaft have the same apparent FAP despite different range&speed is only because of lucky rounding.

Yes, of course the weapon speed does not actually affect the feral's combat capability, but that doesn't mean it has no part in evaluating the weapon's DPS and thus FAP.

PS: Take the 251 feral weapons' 267.3 DPS, subtract 54.8 base claw DPS, multiply by 14, and you get: 2975. Wait, what?
Now, take the median of Hersir's damage range, (748+1123)/2=935.5, divide by speed 3.5, and again subtract 54.8, multiply by 14: 2974.8 (or rounded down for display: 2974)
Do this for any other feral weapon of any level, and you will find that the displayed DPS and FAP often do not match up by 1, but when you compute the DPS from damage range&speed, to get more than one decimal place, and round down the final FAP result, and it will match the value observed in the game tooltip.
