    Should I continue playing WoW? Long story of a desperate player.

    Warning: Wall o' Text inc.
    I've been playing WoW since late 2005 (with some breaks), and it seems like I really have either a bad luck or bad realms to play - here's my story:
    I started with an Undead Priest, leveled him as Holy in vanilla WoW. When I got to maximum level, there weren't many raiding guilds on my realm (Laughing Skull-EU), there was basically one uber-great guild doing BWL+ stuff and a few smaller guilds. I finally got into one and even almost cleared MC (which was a great experience for me, because I couldn't find any guild who would want me back then) - had just 2 bosses left, I even remember that we downed one boss on the first try after I ninjapulled him (yeah, I was 13 back then). After that I dunno what happened, but somehow I had to stop playing and came back a long time later - in BC.
    I then noticed that shadowpriests are now an option, so I decided to go shadow for the expansion. It was really cool, I found a really fun guild and after a month or so we cleared Karazhan together with Nightbane (might've screwed up the name, it's the dragon you need to summon), but then a few people left the guild and I got kicked from the guild because I "emoted /sleep while the RL was explaining tactics". Being a kid, I thought that those people were douchebags and I tried to find another guild and I did - but that guild was stuck in Kara and never even had enough people to go for Gruul/Maggie, while the better guilds didn't need shadowpriests, QQ. I lost my will to play the game then and froze my account.
    When I got a bit older and WotLK came out, I decided I'll make a new start - I generally have bad relations with people, so I decided I'll make a tank (everybody love tanks, right...?)... but the tank was a DK. Yeah, you can laugh now, but I had no idea about their reputation back then, I just loved the class, the lore behind it and the mechanics. A guy I met on a party actually dragged me back in, promising he'll make a spot in his high-end guild for me, since his guild apparently needed tanks (he was a drood). However, when I got to level 80 and got the best possible heroic gear + enchants and some PuG Naxx items and asked him for a spot in a guild, he was mute for a few days and then said "sorry pal, but they don't want you". I got really angry and started to look for a guild on another server (oh yeah, my friend's guild was on Argent Dawn EU) and found one on Azjol-Nerub EU (was a guild of only the people from my country, an advanced one too, and they accepted my application) so I transferred my DK there. The guild collapsed about 2 weeks after I joined, but another guild was born from it, and I joined it. After a few weeks doing 25mans with them, a lot of people started to slack, not show up on raids, and then the guild became 10-man only, which pissed off the slackers (ironic, isn't it?), and most of them left the guild, leaving me and a few friends in. But, because I love raiding, I started to look for a new guild and I found one - one of the top 3 guilds on AN Horde side, and they took me for a trial to tank IC. It was supposed to be a 2 week trial, and I attended EVERY raid for 2 weeks and did my best (the tank officer said i'm better than any DK tanks they ever had), but on the last day when we were about to try Rotface and Festergut, I had a bad day (personal issues) and I screwed up on trash 2 times or so, apologized people for it, but no one responded. After the raid I asked the tank officer whether they're gonna accept my application, and he said that the vote went 1 for (him) and 7 against, after one bad goddamn day. I got really pissed again, since I sacrificed a lot of time to get the best possible gear (I'm no AH player, getting those IC-recipe boots and powerleveling JC was a really intense achievement for me) to be as good as I can be for the guild, and they rejected me after one bad damn day. I stopped playing and decided I'll come back in Cata.

    Now here's my question - taking into account my past/bad luck, should I even continue trying to get into an advanced raiding guild? If so, then how will I determine if they are elitist douchebags, noobs with no skill, jerks, or normal people? I really hate when a lot of hard work goes to nothing, are there any realms with mostly friendle people or something? I might consider rerolling in Cata, maybe even to Alliance, but I really don't know what to do, because it seems like every time I try to get into a raiding guild, something fucks up and I'm left with nothing.
    Sorry for the wall of text and bad English, I'm a Pole :

    If you're this kind of pole, I'm jealous.

    No, I'm sorry. That was a bad joke. In return, I will give you my advice: If you feel that you are prepared for more disappointments, then go for it. No pain, no gain. Nothing in this life worth having comes easy, and that goes for a good guild as well. However, if you are not prepared for it, then perhaps yopu should consider a single player game, or TF2.
    If I was a Blizz server technician, I'd hijack a server and use it to download porn 24/7. Guess why the instance servers always are full B]

    My guess is that the tanking lead voted no also and was afraid to say so.

    I also guess that you aren't very good.

    Solution: Roll a Ret Paladin!

    JK!@!

    Just suck it up, get better and find a new guild. It has got to be frustrating to not have a good raiding guild to call home.. but.. just keep looking till you find one.. you may have to set your target a bit lower than TOP guild on the server.

    @Alienmonkey

    I think he's looking for a serious raiding guild.

    A few observations: Bad luck , No. immaturity yes. I have a feeling that we're not getting the whole and complete picture err story.

    But that being said. Two things.

    1.) This is just a game! your taking it seriously and when suppose to be serious you screw up. Just play the game dude and expect to be disappointed, because when it comes down to it your in a -community- full of "whats in it for me", hence your post, am I right?

    2.) The more you expect others to follow through on what the say the more disappointed your gonna be. Again, its just a game. Some people make into a job others play it for what it is. Hopefully you've matured enough, and will get into a guild that raids like you want. I would take a wait and see approach. WoW is losing its appeal fairly quickly albeit faster then I expected, so just play the game for what it is A GAME. Sooner or later they'll be the next great thing and even that'll end. Try and remember that.

    if you like wow,i would give it a try after Cataclysm release,and create new char on high populated realm.Than i would hit 85 and join some middlecore raiding guild because best guilds on server normally look out for experienced players and will require at least woltk-achievements.
    If that middlecore guild would not satisfy you i would start to look out for raid spots in better guilds ( after or short before new major patch),but it will also require some patience and gaming abilities.

    a cash cow is well established brand, business unit, product, or service, that generates a large, regular, predictable, and positive cash flow. Cash cows are often 'milked' for developing, promoting, or supporting new or struggling counterparts.

    Signs of a cash cow

    * Product variations
    * Customer segmentation
    * Pricing flexibility
    * Cost reduction
    * Targets specific competitor

    Re: Should I continue playing WoW? Long story of a desperate player.

    instead of looking for guilds that have fancy posts in the forums, look in trade chat instead.

    If you see "LF Tank <highest level of content you can manage>, checking gear, guild run" You have found a guild to join.

    Get on their vent and find out how HARDCORE they are. Match that to how HARDCORE you are. If you find some jive with the personality of the players you're more likely to get an invite.

    But looking for the best of the best and trying to get in with guilds that are 100% full of themselves is not good. It's not worth it. Guilds like that are looking for players that do not actually exist. They assume that they'll just magically find someone better. Either figure out how to be perfect, or better than their best players, or find a guild that plays at the same level you do.

    BTW - wiping on trash is not a sign of an expert player. Especially when you do it 3-4 times in a row.

    Re: Should I continue playing WoW? Long story of a desperate player.

    I've played since vanilla, play through every patch, same with TBC. when WOTLK came out, I did Naxx and quit and came back late for Ulduar. Quit right at the release of TOC and came back again. eventually quit like 2 more times and ended up starting WOW back up again, and regret it, because of the bullshit money I've wasted doing server/faction changes over a 6month time period..it all adds up...

    I just decided today I don't want to play anymore, after I've only been back at the game for like 2 weeks. Prior to these 2 weeks of playing, I quit the game for 1.5 months when I started working again back at the end of March, and things felt good. Pretty much with how the game is currently doing, it's boring as hell, I never truly maxed a character out in BiS gear from ICC, just because it got boring, not to mention I ran ICC as a warrior / hunter/ priest / shaman / warlock and got a lot of items on each of them. When I just started up a few weeks ago, I just wanted to casually play and PVP on my warlock/mage, started out fun and once I hit arenas, i'd get furious (mad as hell, not as in the arena set lul) at all the bullshit. Im in furious facing wrathful people, and it was a BRAND NEW team. Healing is imbalanced as fuck if you don't have a heal reduction. Doing BGs actually was cool to do...but with just doing that over and over, it got boring, and Arenas blew my fuckin mind at how horrendous they are, so I figured it wasn't worth my time, for like the 6th time.

    So behind my novel of a response, I want to say this. If you are one of those people who just does (A) Only Raids...or (B) only PVPs/arenas...and jumps around Dalaran while you wait...you probably shouldn't waste your time. Now if you do it all thats a different story. I like MMOs a lot, but to be honest, they are just boring as hell when you play them alone. Ive had 4 other RL friends play WOW with me during the start of WOTLK, and it was a blast. So I honestly don't think the game can really get any more fun. Not sure if Blizzard is trying to pull a Power Rangers and Might Morph the hell out of these current BGs, but after reading the Twin beaks BG, that shit was weak. The game is just progressing toward a more casual game, and I dont see any changes coming in Cata.

    If you don't play with friends, be it irl or even online, there's a good chance wow wont be very enjoyable. Playing with friends solves a lot of this kind of stuff. If you're mainly wowing it up yourself, I would really recommend quitting. I mean you gotta quit at some point right? Might as well be now. I don't think you'll miss it that much. Just my two cents.

    Re: Should I continue playing WoW? Long story of a desperate player.

    @Snøw - yeah, but it seems like I only seem to find servers with PRO and N00B guilds, without some mid-end ones.
    @Fileflow - it's not being immature, it's more about the fact that I'm not a rich person (guess what, my parents didn't pay for my WoW, I worked for that money, and it was basically all I've been spending it on. Stopped playing also because I lost my job) and I feel bad when I realise that in the end all the money and time I've invested in this game seem thrown out. "This is just a game!" - bullcrap, it's not JUST a game, and everyone knows it. Pac-Man is JUST a game, Halo/CoD is JUST a game, but MMOs are something very different and you know it.
    @Balbaroy - you're right, problem is that I've only had 2 "friends" that played WoW, one of them was an idiot and the other one was exceptionally annoying. Also, TBH, I have no friends. It seems like not liking to hang out with people only to stare pointlessly into space drinking cheap wine and smoking cigs or get smashed on parties is considered wrong.
    @Dembai - so are you telling me I'm bad because I screwed up on the zombie doggies? If you've never screwed anything up in a dungeon, then I admire you, because I always thought that humans make mistakes. And I wasn't looking for a hardcore uber l33t guild, what's more important to me is stability of the guild - if people are good but raids occur once every 3 weeks because people don't show up is lame and so is a group of elitist douchebags who argue about who has a bigger penis on guildchat and ragequit after 2 days.
    So, psychological bullshit aside - can anyone recommend me a non-PvP (ganking is not fun, sorry pros!) EU realm that I could reboot my gameplay on? Doesn't matter if it's Horde or Alliance, what I need is a wide choice of guilds, not just the uber top and uber bad ones like on my previous realms? It seems like Snøw is right, I gotta suck it up and look for a good guild until I find it. My 18th birthday's soon, gonna buy that one pre-paid and try my luck on holidays. Thanks to those who gave/will give me a helpful advice.
