well, so far my rogue is level 56 and i'm always coming last in DPS is it because i have no AoE's?
I have heirlooms bow, daggersx2, shoulders and chest.
Almost I'm Using SS, not letting SliceNdice run out and using eviscerate at the end, and im using instant poison.

edit: i also use gouge and backstab to get Slicendice up then i use SS

a) dps before level 80 raiding doesn't matter
b) don't use a dagger as mainhand, pick a slower weapon (preferably 2.6 or slower, Mass of McGowan or how it was called is great)
c) don't use Gouge/Backstab

Slowest weapon (appropriate for your level) you can find for mainhand

Fastest weapon (appropriate for your level) you can find for offhand

Deadly poison offhand, Instant mainhand

Spam SSx5 then Evisc, you dont need backstab or gouge. When SnD reaches 1 or 2 seconds left, use whatever combo points who have, the amount does not matter, to refresh it.

Also, rogues do tend to fall behind on trash nowadays at lower levels, what the all the mindless AoEing and whatnot. Alos as said before, don't worry too much about dps until you hit northrend.

What gouge is, a combo point builder, an interrupt, an incapacitate.

What gouge is not, a damage spell. Use it accordingly

id say its the lack of aoe im lvling a bear tank and it takes mad skills to tank and be top dps spamming swipe sometimes i gotta switch hands cuz my finger hurts

Don't stress too much about dps til high 70s/80. 80 especially.

Make sure you're using max rank poisons.
Slow MH/fast OH I think is the normal rogue setup.

Don't worry too much about using a max 5 combo for SnD.

I would say that you shouldn't worry too much about dps at low level, it isn't always balanced in the favour of a rogue at lower levels, however I would urge you to stick at it because rogue is a truly awesome class and im sure you will do brilliant dps with the help of this forum by the time you are level 80
