Soloing Vanilla & BC Content - Warrior

    Hi!

I'm planning on running some challenging vanilla & burning crusade raids and or dungeons on my warrior. Solo that is... And I'm looking for the best specs, glyphs and tips (statwise) so I can prepare myself.

The last few weeks I've been running vanilla & BC normal dungeons and I don't have any trouble with it in full 264 gear in fury spec. But I found out things will get diffecult when I want to run, lets say, MGT HC. So I guess a prot spec will help. But should I take a common used spec or can you advice a prot spec with some talents in improved dps aswell? And what kind of glyphs should I use if prot is the way to go?

And, as my last question, what challenging raids and dungeons are commonwide known that can be solo'd as a warrior?

If you guys could help me with some info you would help me out alot!

    Thnx in advance!

Healing is %-lifepoints, so a lot of lifepoints is great.

    This could work:

    This as well:

Blood Craze proccs on "would have been"-crits as well, so some pvp gear + blood craze = hot for free

yea bloodthirst and prot is the way to go.

3.1 or something removed bloodcraze working with woulduh-beenuh-crit when you have defense gear on.

Made me sad cuz the 4p t10 is great for ignoring damage.

Ok, sounds good, and should I go with full tank gear, full dps gear or a combo of gear? Maybe a combo of tank and dps gear would be wise to get some vital tank stats maxed (defense, should be no prob getting lvl 60 def cap with some 264 gear on I guess) and do some nice damage besides that? Can you shine a light on this?

I don´t think so. ZG is easy in Dmg-Plate. Bosses seem to be 60+3 in classic, 70+3 in BC and 80+3 in WotLK.

Fury with Bryntroll and Bloodthirst glyph works wonder. Fast killing and lots of healing. You can also take Bloodcraze always work wonder, but to get crit you need to sit (next hit will be a guaranteed crit)

Sounds like a good idea to try that out, but our using brynn / BT glyph with a dps spec or a prot spec?

    Indeed.
Being def-capped is not very important, though. Old Bosses hit relatively weak and the base crit chance of skull bosses is only 5.6%. Assuming a boss hits for 500 on normal hits and 1k on crits, even with 0 def, you would on average only receive an extra 500 once every 18 swings, increasing damage received by only 2.8% compared to being def-capped.
The def-cap is only important when single hits make up for a huge portion relative to the health pool.

Btw, being def-capped is overrated even in level 80 normal and heroic five man instances. With new tanks, people often ask: "are you def-capped?!?". Low-geared tanks rarely die because of falling short of the def-cap, though. They die due to an overall lack of gear (stamina!, armor!, avoidance!, threat! and def).
The def-cap is only really important for raids, imo.

Neothin is right. Even 60 Bosses count as level 83 and they do crit as often as a 83 boss. Their crits are so low that you don't notice them.

Raid bosses areno matter what always three levels above your own. Being defcapped is still not needed on level 60 and some soloable level 70 bosses because they hit for such small amounts.

Last question about the 2 specs you posted. The only real difference between those specs are rage generation or more damage if I'm not mistaken. Then why not take the 2 talent points spent at deflection in the arms tree, which seems not vital, and put those points in improved defensive stance AND focused rage?

Re: Soloing Vanilla & BC Content - Warrior

I have a raiding prot spec and fury spec. I tend to just use two, two handed weapons while being in prot gear (DBW isnt a bad idea for a trinket). I use my fury spec and depending on what needs to be done, I may or may not get the Bloodthirst Glyph. If you have Bryntoll, that's always a good idea.

Keep in mind that with Bloodthirst/Bloodthirst Glyph the more health you have, the more you get back so commanding shout will help with healing done so if its a slow burn, stack the stam in defensive gear and keep commanding shout up.

Also, and this is key, on classic bosses Thunderclap and Demo shout are amazingly powerful. Classic bosses AP does not scale quite as well as the reduction of your demo shout has over the years. Just try Garr with and without Demo shout to gauge.
