Totem of Wrath in PvP

Is ToW useful in pvp?
I see ToW in every ele pvp build. I really don't understand why. I mean sure it adds SP and some crit, but considering the amount of damage magma/searing totems do ToW comes up short.
Any one mind explaining me why is it useful?

There's where you're confused. They don't hit very hard, magma is 100% worthless, and you're going to be pillar humped as ele so hard your searing totem will be just as worthless. 3% crit and 280 spellpower is a LOT better then the fire totems nonexistent damage.
