A quick question

I have a question, and this was the best place to post it...
On Internet Explorer, to the right of the adress bar and the Refresh and Stop buttons, there is a search bar. When you type a letter, say, in, it will bring up a list of past searches that begin with this letter. I don't know the name for it. But anyway, is it possible to clear that or turn it off?

stop using IE for a start. Also if you are going to search for bestiality porn, dont use the google toolbar.
In the left hand corner of that search there should be a solid line with smaller dots around it, right click on this and untick it from the list and it should remove it from the browser. its about 4years since i used IE mind

I hate Firefox and Chrome... I don't know why. I think you are thinking of an outdated version of IE, though. I don't have the solid line with small dots around it.

Ok i have it now. i even had a quick look, made me feel a bit ill. But anyway
on the search bar there should be a dropdown.
click this
go to manage search providers
this will bring up a table
under the header of search providers
right click on these and disable.
this will turn them off
as for not showing things you have searched
try "do not show suggestions"
not sure if this last one will work but its worth a shot.
