What game engine does WoW use?

What game engine does WoW use?

Melee Combat in WoW seem smooth as a FPS or something.

Are there any other games using the same engine to compare it to?
    Paladins are Cool Now?
    What happen to Kalgan?

Wasn't it modified warcraft 3 engine?

Wow uses it's own graphic engine, with sc2's engine seeming to be a close brother.

Game engines are made by company's who specialize in making them usually, game developers buy them to make a game with it.
I think blizzards have had so much success that they are able to make a game engine in house so there are no other games running it and its just the wow engine

correct me if im wrong im not a engine specialist but thats what i think it is

this happens to be the case. You're either rich enough to afford your own engine, or talented enough to make one. I hate to use this example, but the founder of Runescape built his own game engine from the ground up. It just goes to show you what making your own platform can really do for a game. Especially if you make it at the right time and run it the right way

WoW originally used a modified version of the WC3 engine, and then built it upwards from there on through patch updates and expansions.

The unreal engine. You can play Quake in WoW.
I once shot a man in Goldshire, just to watch him die.

Totally looks like an unreal engine, I agree :P

The original engine was the warcraft 3 engine.

It uses an engine similar to the ones you can find in old Skoda cars. Robust, hard-working, and if everything crashes into oblivion it will still march on its own.

Wait, old Skoda cars? The ones you had to push off a cliff to go above 50 mph?

IT is the same old warcraft 3 engine
thats why it looks like very detailed paper cutouts inside a box
and yes your FSP should be through the roof with that low quality graphics.

Still Waiting for a game like Crysis to run the DX11 with full Tessellation and DOF ON that would be like me.... awesomeness.

The reason wow has 12million subscribers is because 12million people are to cheap to upgrade there machines to play a real game, in reality they could play S.U.N for free and save that money for that upgrade.
heres a list of games way better than WoW with way better graphics..
1.Everquest 2 -full controlls for shader 1.0 and up!, full on animation control, full on floral, bump pixilation (closest thing to Tessellation that any game has)
LiniageII- same full on graphics but less controll, better ingame visual aspects though.
Vanguard- Not much better but its still better besides there is something to do besides PVP all the time.
    Ultima Online-GODFATHER to MMORPG's
Final fantacy-very nice graphics if you like anime crap but still looks good.

(((((Simular in graphics and game play but still better than WOW))))
    RIft
Perfect World (LOL) <--uses graphics engine very simular)))

That or WoW has 12 million subscribers because a very large portion of the community likes the game and its lore and can care less about graphics, which in my opinion is one of the worst ways to rate a game, through graphics.
Make a level 1 human on the US server Moonguard and run over to the Goldshire Inn. Once there prepare to be blown away by a series of WTFBBQ's and complete and total spacial mindfuck. Do. It. Now.
