    There, fixed it for you.

Blessing of Kings was at the start deep in retribution tree, (there where is repentance now)
Retribution Paladins in vanilla had skill called Holy Strike. Blizzard removed it with some reason of their's.

Oh man.. just looked up Pornshire of Moon Guard. So gross lol. This thread is epic.

In Vanilla, a Horde Hunter could get up on the roof in Ashenvale outside of the WSG portal, and from there, snipe lower level alliance as they came out from a BG. Most alliance couldn't get up there to do anything about it. This was one of the reasons I rolled Horde, five years ago.

Fantastic thread. Unfortunately, the only thing I have to contribute to the old skool memories is my own recollection of questing for the succubus as a lowbie warlock. That quest rocked because it forced me to go to Kalimdor early on, I still remember being awed by the utter difference of the Barrens.

That, and the Dreadsteed of Xoroth quest, for which I have my one and only Feat of Strength. It took forever, was expensive, and when I finally got some guildies to run it with me, we wrapped up at around 3AM. It was bad, because I had to get up for work at 6AM that morning. First thing I did after waking up was canceling my WoW account.

I wish there was still stuff like that in the game - minus the unreasonable prerequisites of course - but I loved how the quests made me feel invested in both the succubus and the mount.

Awesome read, a lot there I didn't know about!

Lemme see if I can think of any more:

The Shaman ability, "Storm strike" used to increase nature damage taken from all sources and they used to stack, resulting in the largest Shaman crits of all time in vanilla. Here is a video example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=InqmjHf6jfE

High Overlord Saurfang used to be stood outside the Orgrimmar bank where for a time due to a bug he could be mind controlled by alliance players, this led to some of the most insane pvp crit videos in WoW history. Video example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xs1zIEs2-HY

There was a brief bug in vanilla which allowed the effects of the gnomish mind control cap and enslave demon to last indefinitely, fun was had by many with controllable elites such as Lieutenant Doren though it was hot fixed shortly after its discovery.

In TBC a bug was discovered with the shamans fire nova totem which allowed players to hit their own faction with its explosive effect, this was used by many players to kill gold sellers and other players bank / low level alts, resulting in many getting hit with the ban hammer for abuse / harassment.

Doomwalker used to wander a patrol route around Shadowmoon Valley much like the HFP reavers but was later removed due to complaints from players.

The rare creatures in outlands used to be as strong as 5 man instance bosses though they have since been hit with the nerf hammer, possibly due to them being up 24/7 due to no one being able to kill them.

Many areas in old Azeroth used to be populated by elite mobs, these were nerfed in to normal mobs with normal loot tables during TBC, possibly to cut down on farming as I remember seeing lots of high level botters in these areas killing the mobs there 24/7.

When the Zul'Gurub raid dungeon was launched, Blizzard unwittingly unleashed a virtual plague in to the game world as the final boss, "Hakkar" caust a debuff called corrupted blood which caused damage over time and spread from character to character. Player pets which caught the infection could carry it out of the instance and in to populated areas where it would spread rapidly and create havoc. Video example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LoN4nCaULGo

There used to be an alliance quest chain where lady Katrina prestor in stormwind would be revealed as onyxia, if this was handed in while bolvar was under attack, the newly revealed onyxia would assist the alliance in killing the attacking horde. Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V0IcRjQQ-6w

There was a bug with the hunters snake trap in TBC where the summoned snakes would attack unflagged members of the opposite faction, naughty hunters would use this to cause grievance in low level zones and resulted in many big ban hammer crits.

The creature, Doom Lord Kazzak, used to reside in the Blasted Lands under the name Lord Kazzak before being moved to HFP in TBC where he was known to follow players he had grievances with all the way to Stormwind. Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jl0VWJdE01M

The aesthetic Brutallus boss on the isle of queldanas was enslavable on the PTR where someone dragged him back to the questing hub and unleashed him on everyone, since this version of him was immune to damage he tore the place apart for ages before a game master came and got rid of him.

There are invisible mobs in the mage district of stormwind and the apothecarium of undercity that can be seen with the detect invisibility spell / potion, they also become visible if hit by aoe, they are part of a low level ghost buster style mage quest.

The kobald mobs in alterac valley cast a fire shield buff that stacks up to 6 times, there was a time where, if spell stolen by a mage, they would gain 100% of the mages bonus damage and could be used to kill groups of players simply by standing near and or ice blocking in the middle of them. Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7UIEb7nXqgs

There are still numerous steal-able buffs from world creatures that gain 100% of the mages bonus spell damage, but they are nowhere near as epic as the above.

Also, a paladins divine shield can be stolen by a mage if the timing is absolutely perfect.

There is a hidden tower in stormwind next to the bank, behind the inn. You can make it out by casting an aoe spell indicator at it, it will move along its surface.

Draenei females used to have a /silly emote that asked if Gnomes came with a vibrate option that was removed shortly after tbc release.

The paladin spell lay on hands used to empty the casters mana bar when used, bored paladins would exploit this effect by gaining mark of kazzak and entering a populated area before casting it, causing everyone around them to be hit by a massive aoe shadow damage spell. This was nicknamed Kazzak Bombing, though it no longer works. Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-0VnnHSzGMc

A similar debuff comes from molten core and was often cast on player pets, allowing it to be taken out of the instance. Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gC9c6D0B-JM

Casting sentry totem while falling would, for a time, cause the casting shaman to stop falling and remain stationary on that spot in the air till they tried to move again.

There used to be a quest where you answered questions about warcraft lore, if you failed you were given a debuff called mark of shame that made your own faction hostile to you, this was once used by a group of horde to kill Thrall. Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DhiTOMXlL-A

Thats all the others I can think of at the mo, I'll post any more that come to mind later.

When I first started playing WoW, somewhere in vanilla- I distinctly remember going to an island (I swear it was off of STV) where there were a ton of little dragons (mostly whelplings) and a humanoid dragon that gave a quest and also explained some dragon lore. The quest was, I believe, to put the ghostly whelplings to rest. Also, there were several large skeletal dragon corpses lying around.

I know it was there, I did the quest. However, when explaining to my boyfriend (who was a beta-WoW) he said he had never heard of it, and never seen it. I went around old world to try and find it before Cataclysm destroys the world, and I can't find it anywhere- so I was wondering if anyone else remembers this place...
Someone already mentioned the island to the north of Bloodmyst Isle, and this sounds exactly like that. There are dragon whelplings there and a quest to put them to rest. It was added in TBC and didn't exist in vanilla. But if there was another island off STV that isn't the one with the elementals (north-west), the panthers (Jaguar isle or something - the large island to the south east) or the Zul'gurub stuff (further north than the elementals), then I'm at a loss.

I had a friend who would sit his horde hunter out of sight but within range of the alliance encampment (up on the hill) to the south of WPL in vanilla and Aimed Shot people to death. >.<

This has no doubt been mentioned, but I just remembered it. I'm not sure if it was removed in TBC or WotLK, but in vanilla if you logged out anywhere it would pause your character, no matter what. Meaning that if you jumped into the air and hit /camp, your toon would appear to float in mid air. A couple of us used to have fun doing it during BWL runs with most of the raid going WTF?

You also used to be able to adjust something like the pitch amount through the /console command during TBC and do loop-de-loops on your flying mount. Not sure when this was removed (or is it still possible?).
    For the Alliance!

    /console pitchlimit 9999

It hasn't been removed. It resets upon logout so don't worry about screwing up your settings. Go forth, and do loop-de-loops my friends!

Paladins/druids/shamans had all stats on their gear, and for some reason rogues, warriors and some other classes had spirit or some useless stat for them on their gear.
    Spirit used to increase proc-chances.

Pitching in to say I loved this thread! A long read, but some interesting stuff, some of which I remember myself.

until recently, i think Ulduar, maybe a little later, you could still access Epic difficulty setting on dungeons. it wouldn't let you in them, it would actually make the entrance portal disappear - but it was fun as hell to do to pugs.

/SetDungeonDifficulty (3) was the command. it has since been disabled - ruining all my fun =/

/SetDungeonDifficulty (2) still works to set it to Heroic mode i believe, i haven't tested it in a while.

I was recently hit with a pound of nostalgia in AV.

In an 80 AV, I was on my elemental shaman, and saw some gnome mage, he tried to cast, I interrupt, and get ready to blow him up. However! It turns out he was an engineer, and started casting some mind-control device. Windshear was on cooldown, but I thought to my self, "That'll never work". Oh how wrong I was. He gets it off, makes me heal him to full health, and starts blowing my cd's. I probably should've trinekted, but I was too busy laughing my ass it that it actually worked.
