    Draenor restored?

In Cataclysm The Blasted Lands will be restored. It will have trees, and water, and all those nice things. However, why is the blasted lands blasted? Because of its connection to Draenor. It was once a swamp, but when Draenor exploded the effects carried over to The Blasted Lands, due to the dark portal being there. And a zone can't just go from being a wasteland to having forests overnight, so that means Draenor must be restored!
What do you guys think, is this a lorefail or not?

    All of Cata is Lorefail.

It's just a small part on the western side of the blasted lands that has been restored. The rest is said to be pretty much as blasted as ever...

    Poor Draenor =(

I doubt the effects of a Cataclysm on Azeroth can travel through a portal.

the redness was the demonic corruption and the fact that there's mountains all around, so no water. we killed the demons, and deathwing brought in the water, so it's a swamp again.

as for draenor, there's still demons there, and good luck getting much water there, it'll just run off the side. so it stays red on that side.

    there, lore, done.

Not necessarily. It could be that they are simply pushing back the corruption that's leaked over into Azeroth. That doesn't necessarily mean Outland has changed in any meaningful way, just that there isn't enough new chaotic energy coming through the portal to counteract the Worgen's efforts.

Plus only the Tainted Scar is confirmed to of been transformed. The rest of the Blasted Lands are probably just as Blasted as ever.

It doesn't have to! There could be a change in Draenor and a change in Azeroth that have nothing to do with eachother but just happend at the same time.

IIRC, the area with trees and swamp are the area on the map (even currently) that's BEHIND the mountains and the tainted scar, behind the mountains that denies us access to the uncharted area of the map that we see ingame. We don't actually know what's behind there, so it's possible that the corruption from Draenor never reached there, and in Cataclysm we get to see this area of the map.

Doesn't mean the foliage grew overnight.

blasted lands had alot of demonic influence and curroption causing it to match hellfire exept way more minor. also some dragon activitiy (that dragon world boss is there)

atm we only know that the tainted scar is being revived the rest of the area seems like it could be slighty revived.

out land is literally a lost world with nothing left. its physically apart of the nether now, its no longer in the great dark (space) like azeroth is

what ^ said, tainted scar has a giant hole to the ocean, waterfalls in it so trees grew. the blasted lands is still very much red and baron.

draenor would be awesome to see restored but it would be impossible to repair that. unless the titans shut it off for 50 billion years

I would assume the restored flora of Tainted Scar is thanks to the efforts of the new worgen druids. Screenshots of the Day have shown their buildings there and the overall feel is "dark" in a Gilneas sort of way.

And like many already said, it's only the Tainted Scar that is restored, the rest of Blasted Lands is still blasted.

Khadgar did say that the Blasted Lands would never be able to support life again, but I suppose he's not really an authority on soil morphology.

The reason that Blasted Lands is currently red and demon infested was because of the effects of the Dark Portal. When it was originally "destroyed" (circa Warcraft II) it was blown through the mountains in the southern part of Swamp of Sorrows. Before this the Blasted Lands would have been a mountain range. With the upcoming Cataclysm the land will change again.

I wish they would add more to Outlands. We only see a small portion of a planet. There could be more that survived.

it would take a miracle to put Draenor back together, that place is the Humpty Dumpty of all planets, but the Blasted Lands is blasted because of the wars that raged when the humans finally pushed the orcs back and through the dark portal in the 2nd war. Trees do grow back after a period of time despite what the hippies and Poison Ivy might say.
Shiny shiny epics. NO NO, look with your eyes, not with your hands.

    When did he say this?

If it was back in Warcraft 2, then he has since discovered plenty of new forms of magic. Shamanism and Druidism, the 2 schools most capable of healing the land, would of been almost completely unknown to him at that point, and he certainly wouldn't of understood the extent of their power. Heck he didn't even know the full extent of the Holy Light until he met the Naaru.

During the events of Beyond the Dark Portal. But yeah, I don't think he's really an expert on those matters.

people seem to think that all the changes that will be made in cata happen overnight

awnser me this question have you ever seen anthing grow in wow any trees that got taller grass that grew have you seen anything like that ??
my gues is no, there are alot of quests that send you off to heal the land (dunno if those are also in the blasted lands) but when you had finnished the q nothing happend and now 5 years later you will get to see some of the fruits of your labor
and also the land can heal itself, given enough time,

the blasted langs sufferd from the side effects of the explosion on outland not the direct effects, and now after all this time you get to see how the land has healed itself
