And wyvern are usually seen as a dragon-like creature, not a mammal that's a mix of a lion, a bat, and a scorpion. World of Warcraft doesn't always stick with normal descriptions of creatures, oh well.

Back to the topic at hand. That thing scares the crap outta me.

Yeah its really a manticore. And I recall blizzard saying that the BE mounts were suppose to be Cockatrice, yeah that was just dumb.

Its name is Ozumat. She's hiding in this picture:

    Did you find her?

I thibnk that Leviathans are involved into Alliance intro into Vashj'ir, when giant tentacles attack the ship and than knock you to the bottom of the ocean.

This is a semantic quibble. WoW is a universe unto itself, and they can call anything by any name they want. If you want to get all technical there's already "errors" like this in the current game. For example, the Horde Wyvern mounts/taxis are traditionally called Manticore, but that doesn't really matter much.

Both intro's are similar. Ozumat pops up all over the zone and is the final boss in the Throne of Tides 5 man.

basically seconding this, but adding that the OP's specialist knowledge on a Leviathan is probably based on a film, or series of FINAL FANTASY COUGH video games.

Can you even tell us who wrote the book, the Leviathan?

    Inb4 google

That is one fine octopus you have there.

I'm disappointed, I was expecting a picture of Moya. But yes, Leviathans are traditionally depicted as whales.

Thomas Hobbes. Remember reading some of his stuff in my ethics class. I always preferred John Locke's stuff over his though. What does that have to do with the mythical creature though?

Holy crap, I jumped. I hate giant underwater creatures. They can be in the air, they can be underground, the can be right in front of me, but not underwater.

I've always had a fear of deep water, strong enough to make me panic first time I ran around Alcaz Island and saw the elite hydras as a lowbie, and just when I get over it, along comes Vashj'ir and ginormous octopus monsters.

The zone looks amazing, but I'm not sure if I'll survive it!

I'd be more scared of this!

I have to say, I take issue with this.

Their hit boxes are way too big at the moment. They patrol the outer rim of Vash'jir and while their names are red, they aren't aggressive. However, because of the giant hit boxes, if I use any kind of AOE pretty much anywhere in Vash'jir one of those comes and hits me for 150-300k damage. The good news is, it can be outswam. The bad news? It can go up on land.

Wut? So, theoretically. At the moment someone could kite that thing to a major city?!

    To hell with your sharks!

  18. #58
Not quite. Because Vash'jir is surrounded by fatigue water and the only way to get there would be via flight. Since you cannot aggro one of these while mounted..kind of ruins the plan. Although, theoretically, if you could find a way to aggro it on an aquatic mount..and maybe glitch it out and get it on land..

  19. #59
Aw man... That thing is freaking creepy. Although rather cool.

Yes originally in mythology Kraken is a giant squid, but Blizzard doensn't copy mythology - They borrow from mythology and make their own versions. Okay, the Kraken they made in SSC I agree, it's a bit too different from the original Kraken in structure, but still it's just a name.
