I have always been interested in Roleplaying, but never really took the time to do it.
If I decided to write a bio for my character, do you guys have any tips on what not to do?

Put some time into it. Don't rush yourself to put out a paragraph about a Mary Sue character. IMO try to be careful concerning lore and characters.
Read what others have put up in theirs. Mines in my sig.
"Imagine coming across a mentally disabled person who was not only drunk, high, but had a full frontal lobotomy leaving little to no intelligence left in their body.
He would be NORMAL, compared to me."
my advice is make sure you take the time to research the lore your character is going to be a part of. don't get lazy and make up some crazy story that makes no sense. like certain writers in blizzard...
Afk= Attack, fight, kill! teh healer tellin u to kill monsters!
OOM= out of mobs, go pull more
Relating your character to a character in lore should be avoided, right?

We got a LOT of good threads in one of the stickies.
And as for relating your character to a lore figure, yeah, it should be avoided. Use lore characters sparingly.
Hmm, okay.
I was looking around, and found this. http://www.wowwiki.com/Lifespan It's useful, but do you think you could guess what a high elf/blood elf's age would be, at about 12 or so human years?
as in what age a blood elf would be if they were "12"?
If linearly... 50ish. If in the way I feel is more correct, 20ish.
Avoid meta-gaming and god-moding
