    New Tanking Tree

Now my DK tank is just my alt he is a blood tank, I must say just looking at the new talent tree I like the fact that blood is now the End all be All of tanking trees, although frost DW tanking was fun, I believe that it was right to have a certain tree for tanking, and a certain one for dpsing. I actually really just like all the CDS we have now and im pretty sure ill just go into unholy for the rest of my tanking talents what do you guys think?

Morbidity might not be required because of all the changes to bloodboil. As for every tree being able to tank, it was a fun idea but it failed pretty hilariously with all those godawful DW frost tanks out there today that skip DW talents, wear tank weapons, and have no clue why they can't hold aggro.

Blood seems pretty bloated at the moment but this is a first pass at the trees so everything is likely to change.

Yeah, me too i though that they were too bloated, i dont really have any choices left when i take all the mandatory tank talents

Don't blame the idea or the implementation, blame the fail players.
But its all good now, apparently you can fix stupid.

The bloated thing is only if you look at taking in all aspects of the game, AoE and Single Target, while grabbing all key defensive talents. If you look at each section individually it could provide much different play styles.

    AoE: http://talent.mmo-champion.com/?deat...UN28_q1,,12479

    AoE 2: http://talent.mmo-champion.com/?deathknight#YfUN28_q1,,12479

    Single Target: http://talent.mmo-champion.com/?deat...YfNwy3_,,12479

Of course there could be other versions too, but these are the ones that got my attention the most.

I've looked at almost every class' new trees and Pyromaniac (spell haste if 3+ targets suffer from Fire dots, Mage Fire tree) is the only talent I can say I really like. That is the sort of fun thing I thought every talent was supposed to be. Don't get me wrong, I understand this is early, early, early beta (otherwise I don't think I would continue) but man many trees look incredibly boring.

There is probably 40 points in each tree. You need at least 31 to access any other tree. That really doesn't leave much room for variation. I don't have a problem with cookie cutter specs, and I don't want to be a unique snowflake with my tree, but in many trees I see talents I just don't want.

I honestly don't totally understand the point of the Annihilation change. I love the 30% increased Oblit damage, but the talent preventing Obliterate from removing diseases seems like something along the lines of an 'interesting' talent the devs wanted.

But, not everything is ready, so hopefully when Cata rolls out we will have tons of possibilities and there won't be any more fucking Imp Icy Touch type talents.

Obliterate no longer removes diseases baseline, meaning Annihilation needs to do something else, which at the moment is buffing Obliterate's damage.

But yeah, you hit the nail on the head with the rest of that post. Death knight hasn't gotten a pass yet and in general this is the first pass on EVERY tree. Few people on these forums understand the concept or purpose of iterative design.

Oh I know about the baselineness of it, it just seemed like something more interesting than +5% per point damage or something.

Speaking of which, can anyone in beta confirm/deny that Hemorragic/Scarlet fever is a disease?

  11. #11
Hemo was, but I'm not sure of Scarlet Fever. (At least, I am 99% positive Hemo counted)

Thanks. Scarlet is just the new name, according to the revamped tree :P

Probably one of the talents on the chopping block. Frost is a little bloated right now (by which i mean to get everything good for dps you need 32 points lol)

I might have misread, but didn't blizz say you have to put all your talents in one tree before putting any in another?

  15. #15
That would make 2 trees builds impossible, wouldn't it? :P

You need to put 31 points in a tree before you can put points in another, leaving you with 10 points for your sub-trees

ah ok that makes much more sense, sorry

Well, I guess this would be the most basic Blood tank build. Points left for single target threat (BCB), a survivability talent (Blood Parasite), and more aoe (Crimson Scourge).

3/3 Scent of Blood is unnecessary, getting it more than once stacks, up to 3 times. Would probably be more useful getting BCB.

I thought about that, but with the Rune changes and (probably) far lower avoidance, it seemed the extra RP would be useful for Rune Strike.

If 3/3 isn't required though, I would imagine http://www.wowtal.com/#k=YeXXJFR.9mn.deathknight is a slightly better basic build.
