I just hope that layout won't change to something like http://www.curse.com/ with tons of pictures, css, some shitty flash changing crap on main page. This eats RAM and loads slowly especially when you want to check quickly if there is anything new or you broswerse net on netbook/phone/smartphone

Good riddance. Also, Boub didn't get any money from this ordeal, it was MLG who sold MMO-Champion, not Boub. The site was already sold once, to MLG.

I'm looking forward to the changes, hoping they'll just focus on fixing the numerous errors on the current site. We've already got adds, and I don't think they'll add much more of them.

Don't you just hate when people go over dramatic over things? And how some people just are against any changes, just because its cool and some others decided to do so.

You haven't been through many business mergers or acquisitions if you honestly believe what you wrote. When the merger or acquisition happens, all kinds of promises are made to the users/patrons. In almost every case, few of the promises are kept due to the money to be made from losing a few customers. I'm not against a company making profit, I'm very much for it, in fact. I am, however, against a company claiming that "things will stay much the same as they are now" when they full well what they have planned. Curse already has a 6-12 month plan for what they want to do with this site. That's the nature of business. They won't share that plan with Boub or anyone that doesn't "need to know" and will roll out the changes a little at time until the promises they made are all left behind in the name of "improvement". By the time the major changes hit, no one will remember this thread and will have been suckered into the new system and will take it without protest just like in almost every previous case of mergers and acquisitions for the past 30 years.

But I'm just being "over dramatic" and "against change", right? Change can be good, but I doubt this will benefit the users as much as Boub or Curse will preach that it will.

Well, don't really care who owns the site, only care about who runs it ^_^ But there are 2 things that make me a bit nervous...

Firstly the "Advertisers can take advantage of Curse’s extended reach into the core MMO market"... I hope that will just mean more/different banners(that ,ofc, will be blocked the second I'll see 'em ^_^).

Second thing is a bit bigger... Yeah, you got it, it's the premium. Not that I'm against it. I would take premium over subscription at any time, but Curse has this tendency... of overdoing it, you might say. People who use curse client from the moment it came out, know what I'm talking about.

Anyway, hope this is just me being paranoiac ^_^

Not sure what to think about this. Curse is imo a horrible website with a horrible design, therefore I'm glad to know Boub will still be in charge of making the decisions here.

Grats on working with new partners Boubouille! You deserve it. Curse was already pretty damn big with all the WoW (and other game) addons indeed and they made the right choice. mmo-champion is the best!

Two questions/comments:

- Are the general mmo-champion forums getting merged with the curse forums? Because 80% of it has overlap so it would seem logical.
- It is an idea to integrate mmo-champion in the Curse-Client program? Say if you post a new news item, that it gives a small popup when you have the curse client running, just like with Google Mail Notifier etc. Would be cool.

I could rant here. Indeed, I had a lengthy one all cooked up. But you know what - I'll just say this; it's been swell, but I avoid Curse.com for many reasons - including the now-unblockable ads covering every inch of your front page. I have no illusions that this will remain a free site - it won't, in my opinion. They never do when they make a step like this.

I'm not interested in watching you go the way of Google, of Youtube, of DeviantArt or any of a half-dozen other places that have sold out completely.

I know - I'm no one. Not even extremely active. But this will be the last time I post on the forums here. Perhaps one day in the future someone will build a site like this where Curse won't ever be part of it.
