    Death strike in Cata

    Ok 1st of all, for these who doesn't know DS deals dmg and heals DK for 5% of his max hp for each disease on the target.

    Blood tree offers two interesting talents.

    1st one being Crypt fever, will it count as 3rd disease hence giving DS 50% extra healing?

    Also 2nd one is improved DS increasing healing dealt by DS by 75%.

    If both of these stay for live it's gonna look something like this:

    5% x 3 + 75% = 26.25% of Max hp healed.

    Rune generation is being nerfed, yes, but still this will be OP imho :P

    When beta started, Scarlet Fever does not count as a disease, it counts as a physical debuff. Apparently in the alpha it was a disease, but sadly that is no longer the case

    Assuming you meant scarlet fever, from the blood talent, not Crypt Fever, the no longer existent(in the beta) talent in unholy?

    From a PvE view:

    It's already been said that DK tanks will take more damage than other tanks to offset their self healing.
    It'll balance out in the end.
    And HS produces more threat than DS, we lose IT's insane threat so we'll probably actually have to work at tanking for once DS spam wont always be an option.

    From a PvP Pov, blood pvp may end up being very tough but it'll lack the CC and damage of the other specs, could work well in BG's though.

    You mean "again".
    IT's bonus threat is a very recent thing, and by the time it was introduced, all good tanks in ICC gear didn't even "need" it.

    Will HS really produce more threat than DS, especially considering Cata health pools? Does it even do it now in ICC?

    Say 60k ICC HP, plus a 30% healing buff. Currently does 15%. That's 11700 healing, if you're not topped off. 2.0735x threat, 0.5x threat for being a heal, that's up to ~12130 threat on a DS right now, in addition to threat from damage.

    Cata, expecting 100k HP fairly early on. 17.5% seems the likely heal percent from DS. (Note it has the 9% crit from now-dead Subversion, too)
    Thus, assuming the threat modifier in cata-BP is the same, we're looking at ~18143 bonus threat. Also, much more likely you can time that to get the full heal, with the new healing/damage model. (With VB up, that'd be around ~28167 bonus threat)

    Per-rune HS might be superior, but that's a pretty immense amount of threat to overcome.

    Still 2 diseases. So in the end it's 17.5% healing. Which is less than now. Currently its 15% and you can do 2 per 10 seconds.

    Not much OP about that.

    Also Scarlet Fever (or Hemorrhagic Fever back then) was never a 3th disease, not even in alpha. Believe me it was the first thing i tested. But it's logic they won't do that, because the 3th disease is one of Unholy's signatures.
