    new Cataputer.

I'm sorry if this has been asked a million times before, but my computer is on it's last legs and could cut out at any point, so I don't have the time for checking. Basically my graphics card is dieing, a long slow death, and as I was planning on getting a new comp soon anyway, this seems like my computers way of saying 'do it, do it NOW'.

Long Story short I have ~£1000 and want a computer that will smack the shit out of Cata on Ultra, what sort of specs should I be looking at?
Reading A Song of Ice and Fire is like playing with an adorable puppy, then someone comes up out of nowhere, shoots the puppy and punches you in the face.

In short form, good specs are something like:

Intel i5 7xx series or i7 series processor. i5 is totally fine for gaming, i7 for video editing and such.
4GB RAM (anything above 6GB is overkill and RAM is really cheap, dont be impressed by big numbers)
Nvidia GTX4xx series(for example 460) or ATI Radeon 5770/58xx series graphics card.
Power supply where brand is mentioned - at least 500W, preferably 600W

    Trolling should be.

£1000 will be fine. Eg. http://www.ebuyer.com/product/200546

That will do you fine for cata on Ultra. Probably good enough to last upto like 5 - 6 years on medium - high settings, but for cata it will play ultra. Or this, http://www.ebuyer.com/product/200549 will also do fine. As you live in the UK, i recommend Ebuyer, as they deliver fast, are good and reliable with returns, and generally have cheap prices.

Hell, I'm able to run Ultra in Cata with my Q6600 @ 3.0, 9800gtx+, 4gig of ram, with Vista Business 64 at 30-60 fps depending on where I am. Its really gorgeous.

At 1024x768 resolution? Those specs will not run ICC25 at anywhere near 30-60fps on ultra settings if you use modern 1920x1080 monitor.

DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM EBUYER!!!!!

I tried to order the computer from there and they cancelled my order and said that they wouldn't reinstate it unless I sent them a Bank Statement and a photocopy of my passport. I sent them the copies with my bank number and passport number covered they said that wasn't okay and they needed me to send them both, totally uncovered or editted along with my Council Tax bill.

next I think they're gunna ask for the keys to my fucking house, seriously what the HELL is that about.

alright a friend has recommended PCSpecialist, says she's been there for all her computers and they've never steered her wrong, after a bit of fiddling around I made this, and was wondering what Y'all thought.

    Intel i5-760 Quad Core
8gig dual DDR3 ram (I tried to get 6, but that's not an option)
    Nvidia Geforce GTX465
    1tb HD
    Corsair 650w power supply
    Sound Blaster X-fi Xtreme Gamer
and then a bunch of other stuff that I don't understand. so good/bad/worthless should I buy it or shoot myself? tbh at the moment I'm leaning towards the second one.

on a monthly basis? jesus christ how many computers do you go through....

j/k Seriously I think it was just me, I'd had about 50 other things go wrong that day and this was just the shitty tip on a crappy iceburg, I just don't see why they need all that personal info.

Some companies will require all of that crap because they know 50% of their userbase will give up at some point in the line.

I've used eBuyer with no problems, and they were recommended to me by trustworthy persons who have been using them for a long time. It seems odd that they would do that, I know they have a bit about security checking and not sending first time orders to addresses other than the cardholder registered address, but that seems extreme.

As I say I and many people I know have used them without complaint or issue.

    Edit:

It could be a standard bank initiated security check. When you get these in a shop the staff have to call the bank up and ask you security questions before they can approve the transaction. It's a pain, but relatively straightforward. With online transactions it becomes a lot more complicated.
