    Why is everything in 3d?

As the tittle asks. I've seen a bunch of movie commercials recently and everything is in 3d. Even this crappy movie about piranha is in 3d, they say it at the very end of the trailer as if that fact will make the movie suck less.

Personally, I think this whole 3d fad is stupid, I've seen 3d movies and its not even that good (the 3d'ness, not the movie in all cases).
Like, today I saw the trailer for "step up 3d". Thats right, 3d is part of the damn tittle. Why? So I can see some people jumping at me in an unrealistic way? Not to mention there is another "we are soaked and still dancing" scene in this one.. ugh..

But yea, anyone else thing this flood of 3d movies is lame?

people will care more about the fact that it's 3d than the interest of the film since it's pretty new and 'cool'

3D is a way for movie makers to make more money. i noticed a regular movie costing 9$ US. and 3D costing 13$ US. from now on i dont mind regular. 3D half the time doesnt even show up well and people with glasses seem to have a hard time with the new 3D frames and putting them over there actual glasses.

    this imo

I agree, it's a money making gimmick. I will never buy a 3D TV. And if it gets to the point where they're all 3D. I'll find the best Samsung model, right before they were all 3D, buy an extended warranty, and baby that thing till it burns out or I'm 80 and my eyes are so bad the 3D is 2D due to cataracts lol.

Everything isn't in 3D, don' exaggerate. And besides, if you don't like it, don't watch them.

I'm not convinced it's actually the movie makers who are making more money with it. Well, of course they'll make more money if more people go watch the movie because it's in 3D, but I doubt it's the movie makers who gain that extra 4$. Theatres have to invest in 3D-projectors and -glasses and the glasses also require maintenance -> higher ticker prices.

lol.. smartass.. you get the point though. As I said I have seen a few, I don't watch them anymore though. I'm not impressed.

Those of you who replied seem to view it similar to me at least. Good to know not everyone out there just jumps on the new fad band wagon.

I realize its an investment thing and they have to recoup their expenses. Its always about money though. The people who made the movie may have some deal where they get a % of the movies profits, or maybe they are just showing that they can make a popular movie which in turn will get them more work / reputation.

Because Hollywood likes to profit off selling Gimmicks to idiots like my Cousin, who feel the sudden need to watch everything in "Imax 3D" and spend a extra 4 Dollars per person. Hell, she doesn't even get to keep those stupid Awkward Goggles.

I can get the same entertaining experience of watching a movie in 2D, and do not understand what the hell is up with everyones love with 3D.

30 years ago, people were wearing those retarded Red and Blue tinted 3D Goggles, and that Fad died shortly afterwards, now it's back for whatever reason, and I predict it will also go away.

It's the economy in my opinion.. People aren't making original movies because it'd be too big of a loss if it failed so they pick a franchise and suck it dry.

Now, for 3d movies.. you'll notice alot of them are original movies.. the reason they're in 3D is because "hey even if this movie sucks it might be fun in 3D.." there's a better chance of making money.

Well, for some time, time was considered to be fourth dimension. They've had that in movies since for ever. In modern physics, though, the fourth dimension is no different from the other three. It's just an abstract concept derived by generalizing the rules of three-dimensional space. You can imagine the fourth dimension into any film you see.

Movies and television shows in 3d were a fad before and they're a fad again. When people get tired of it and stop paying money for 3d, it'll go away again.

    Avatar in 3D: Awesome.
The rest: Boring. In fact, most of the "3D" movies have almost no actual 3D in them.

Im just glad they didn't try to 3D Inception. That would've been painful.

I'm tired of this "BLAH BLAH BLAH... 3D!" crap. Step Up 3D makes me want to puke in my soup.

The problem is most studios aren't shooting the movies using the 3d cameras like with Avatar, they are doing it post production which is darkening the film so the 3d effect is ruined because you can't make out the images on the screen

Yeah, I know that Clash Of The Titans was shot in 2D and then they postponed the release date to "remake" it in 3D. Huge turnoff. (No, I wasn't planning on making love to the movie)

Like someone mentioned before, there's barely any 3D in the movies, besides Avatar. I would've watched Alice In Wonderland without the glasses but it looks even weirder. If a movie isn't planned to be in 3D, it's a waste of your $14, but most people just hear the '3D' and they assume it makes the movie so much better. People believe whatever they are told.

I predicted this "fad" to catch on about 6-7 years ago. At that time, they would play "Nightmare before Christmas" in 3D every year around Halloween, but other than that there really wasn't much else being made in 3D except for some random imax stuff. (Cirque du Soleiu in 3D imax was f'ing amazing though.)

3D sells, the problem is they are taking movie that wasn't filmed for 3D (like clash of the titans) and converting them to 3D and it's bland

The good news is, I was reading an article today in the news how the race is on the way for the first 3D porn
