There is a breaking news on WOW panel, 24hr shutdown on over 15 realms on Wednesday, to prepare for upcoming expansion (?!) did i miss the patch notes? EU btw.

Uhm... well usually on Tuesday maintenance, there are certain realms that go down for 24 hours to "prepare for the upcoming expansion"

Oddly enough they need to upgrade their hardware to account for the new content and whatnot the next expansion brings. They're doing this a long time beforehand so that most issues with it can be worked out beforehand.
