I'm QUITE fed up with Death knight looking items ... all HC plate DPS and tank items looked like DK T10, so no tnx kk bb

I disagree. Heirlooms aren't really supposed to look good. They are supposed to be the second-hand junky stuff your older sibling ran over, puked on, etc and then grew out of and decided to give to you.

It is fitting that they are vanilla items to me. I used to actually have dreadmist and get a kick out of seeing it on all the leveling toons. Also, the actual items are easy to obtain for an "cool" looking set if your are so inclined to do so on your main to look good.

I understand that you think "new" heirlooms should be versions of t10 but I personally I don't like this at all. T7 maybe...but not t10 because everyone who has t10 has worked hard for it. Whether casually running daily heroic/VoA pugs or running ICC it was really earned. The set graphics are unique and it will never be "Easy" for anyone at max level to go farm the whole set, like all the current BoA's can fairly easily be farmed for "looks"

I don't think gear should be completely trivial while leveling either. Adding a helm (which you cannot get at lvl 1 either) is yet another slot people will never need to buy/quest gear for. We already have Shoulder/Chest/Trinkets/Ring/MH/OH/2H/ranged options. I think that is enough slots. Don't like your crappy helm? Turn helm graphics off.

Be amusing if the "new" heirlooms were the recoloured BC versions of the current ones. The so-called BC dungeon 1 sets.

No. The actual dungeon sets weren't the recolored T1 and T2 stuff, those were just random items that looked like sets. The actual dungeon sets (with the exception of the rogue one, which looked like a slightly different version of T3/7) were largely unique if I remember correctly.

might be for some classes but the T6 shaman looks like a clowns costume

In my opinion, the best looking pieces of gear has been from Icecrown, I don't want to play a paladin that looks like a warlock >.>

Or those two linked rogue suggestions from first post, they also look a bit "Warlocky" if you can say it that way.

I like Icecrown, it is the best work on the gear graphics and looks so far.

    Yeah but a few things

What slots we have covered as of now , is only as of now... for all we know the new heirlooms could include only : Pants , Gloves , 1 ring , a necklace , and offhand weapons? Its really up to what they wanna do with it

I know what you're saying is realistic , of course the new heirlooms won't look like T10 but , would asking for T8? Or maybe just brand new designs that for once aren't re-used shit , is that too much to ask? lol

Heirloom doesn't mean brand new. It means something passed down. I just don't think them using any recent tier gear makes any sense while using items from 5 man graphics. Early BC tier or T1...maybe. They aren't supposed to look fantastic, it's hand-me-downs.\

Edit: a shield would be nice I agree. They implented the items before lfd finder so they wouldn't have expected pallies/wars to level prot. I suggest: Dented Draconian Deflector http://www.wowhead.com/item=12602

If they make new heirlooms that go to 85 with different skins, they should be similar items from TBC, i.e. dungeon sets and maybe some heroic weapons.
You get points for actually understanding the theme of heirlooms. Every heirloom piece has been modeled after a blue, makes a certain amount of sense considering the heirlooms are blues. If you want an old tier set, go farm it up, should be especially easy in Cataclysm with the T9 and T10 sets, no RNG to worry about. I'm still expecting 4.0 to bring Frost Emblems down to heroics.

Dungeon sets were cool, but I'm not sure how great of heirlooms they would make. They do fit the theme of being iconic rare quality items, but Heirlooms haven't been a set yet, and a matched set of heirlooms seems a little weird, I mean they're hand-me-downs from your max level toon, shouldn't they be some kind of random mismatched gear?

As far as Cataclysm heirlooms go there are a few things which I remember hearing.
#1 Wrath heirlooms will not work past 80
No surprise, I'd be more than willing to take off T10 to get 10% XP.
#2 Heirlooms are considered a badge dump
Expect some/all of the new ones to be on the badge vendor.
#3 Heirlooms have been mentioned in relation to Guild Leveling and Reputation
I'm not sure if this is still in their minds since they scrapped guild talents. Putting your alts into a high level guild has lots of advantages already without a requirement to do it for your heirlooms.

Personally I would add 1 more expectation, don't expect any heirlooms to exist until 4.1. Remember they're fully revamping Vanilla, no reason to let players blow through it from day 1. I wouldn't be surprised if they want to remove current heirlooms but decided it would be too much of a breech of trust with customers.

Imo all the heirlooms should be vanilla set items.

This really, maybe tier 1 or 2? The current heirlooms are all vanilla-models too, gives the "Old, second-hand stuff"-vibe rather nicely IMO...

I think they should be BC gear. Warrior tier 5 shoulders are amazing looking. Would be fun leveling an alt with those.
Also, I'm all for a BoA shield. Tank version, and caster version.

I get what you're saying, but the chest and shoulders (assuming you get two from the same source, i.e. emblems or stone keeper shards) are from old dungeon sets, not necessarily sets themselves.

I'd even support the next generation of heirlooms being tier 1 clones to signify the upgrade, but honestly I don't even think that they need to make 81-85 heirlooms. There's enough heirlooms as it is, and they make a big enough impact, that I don't think it is necessary for those last 5 levels.

I don't think you quite understand the flavor concepts behind heirlooms.

Heirlooms aren't shiny awesome sweet looking items. They are hand-me-downs. Look at the prefixes of all of them. They imply use, wear and tear, etc.

It's not going to be a tier set higher than 2, if a tier set at all.

    Lightbulb

i would love to see the vanilla tier 0/0.5 sets, but with different colors for each faction.

i liked how simple (yet good looking) they were =D
except from the hunter's set, the shoulders were hilariously big xD
