    super neat story inc:

    back in 2006, i made a warrior named Hephaustus, named after a greek god. eventually i thought it was really cheesy and lame after 30 or so levels, so when i eventually server changed, i had someone take my name so i could rename. i looked through imdb for actors' last names to use, and clicked on shawshank redemption. i saw Andy Dufresne and went with Dufresne. All the while for about a year, i thought the pronunciation was "Doo-frez-nay," because i am mentally retarded. after a guildmate finally used my full name instead of just Duf, he said it and i was all like "wtf?" that was when i realized the name was french, which is totally against what i believe in. That day i changed to Duf, because thats an awesome name. one day, my brother server changed so yet again i server changed. Duf was sadly taken, so I just went with Ruf. to this day, that is my warrior's name. the end

    My paladin is named Avarathion, I have used Avarathion as a nickname since the 90's.

    I was inspired by the elven names when I first read Bilbo back in 98. My interest got deeper when i read the LotR trio.

    So basically I tried to come up with some elvenish name that could fit on a human aswell.

    My warrior, Enders, is from my old CoD nickname which was SgtEnders, which I got from Nick Cage's character in Windtalkers. Pretty stupid name but when I went to WoW with a bunch of guys from my CoD clan, that's what they knew me as so I kept it.

    The rest:
    Caelyn - it's a real name, I found it odd and uncommon enough to suit a fantasy character
    Daeryn - Changed 2 letters from Caelyn to suit a male
    Aleph - name of a song
    Kieren - another somewhat uncommon real name
    Atticus - Atticus Finch, TKAM
    Krisiun - some death metal band, never really listened to them but thought the name sounded cool

    And the rest are just variations of the above, i.e. Enderz, Enderrs, Caelynn, etc.

    I normally grab my book of latin words, chose a word that fits the class of the character and alter that word a bit. :P

    Lyniaru - It just came to me one day and stuck with me.. both(All 2) characters named Lyniaru are mine ^^
    Noctus - It means Night in Latin.. originally my first DKs name, but then I eventually deleted him, and started a hunter who I named after him. It's Captain Noctus now.. due to an unfortunate event involving Me, Gunship, and not the rest of my guild.
    Larka - From a book ^^
    Sculcuvant - (Dont have t anymore since my DK is now female and named Lyniaru) But its ma family name, mean Story Teller, Tall Tale, False Word or Skein Tale

    Beku is the first half of the word Ice in Icelandic (see what I did there), and Zul means spiritualist in Trollish (a common title) of course it was a prefix that I used as a suffix, I was originally going with a frost mage but I wanted to roleplay a witch doctor so meet Bekzul the Troll shadow priest. Deleted characters: I also have Valkath I came up with for a Dwarf arcanist (He was another priest I got rid of), Tauren Warrior Gouled (RL first name), Oogruk the Orc shaman from a book I read three years ago (he was an Inuit shaman), Klugen Untoten the Forsaken priest (Its Klugen is German for Balls, and Untoten means undead again in German), Felspinks Gnome warlock, and Fizzlespinks Gnome warrior all these where things I made and wanted to play but never went through with. I usually see VSpepirothXx the Sin'dorie Deathknight or other stupid names and I ussualy wonder how people can level a character from 1-80 with a uninspiring name, if it uses other letters like XX, or a around it cause it was already taken then that should probbably be replaced. I play on a roleplay server with a naming policy and hate people not following it.

    I was lvl60, without BC. Bored to tears, I started fishing. When I xfered to my actual server, I bought BC and renamed my characther to Pescador (fisherman in portuguese/spanish). My alts are all sea-themed because of that.

    Pescador - Hunter
    Tainha (a fish species) - Warrior
    Pirão (a food you make with fish) - Druid

    I do have a priest named Sol (Sun in portuguese/spanish), a rogue named Bonna (click human, random name, yay) and a shaman named Enh, but I am resto.

    Just wanted to come along and say I've raided with you. My main is called Rasva, which means Fat (substance) in finnish. It's kind of a inside joke, most of my friends are overweight and we kid about it all the time. And Taurens are pretty big.

    I take most of my characters' names from mythology. I try to use names that fit. The problem is that playing on RP realms, most of these names, even the really damn obscure ones, are taken. I'm fairly sure every single mesopotamian god, goddess, king and hero is taken on defias brotherhood-EU. If you look at one of my characters and think "Hey, named after a song/band/modern thing", it's just that that song/band/modern thing is named after the same ancient deely.

    My main, Fnords, is named for the concept from the illuminatus! trilogy, a bizarre, rambling tale that's sort of responsible for strange and humorous conspiracy stories. In short, "fnord" is a word the secret world-controlling illuminati have every single person on earth brainwashed into ignoring but being vaguely scared of during childhood. Then, they print Fnords in the media. Want you to not vote for someone? The headline is "Presidential Candidate John Smith is Good. Fnord." and people just immediately distrust smith.

    i just look around the room and base it around that. my friend did the same thing, his pallies name is powercord... lol.

    Maledictum, priest - it comes from Latin and it means "insult", "taunt". I didn't choose it for the meaning necessarily, but for I liked how it sounds. Plus, we're cool if we pick Latin names, amirite? :P

    Quanto, paladin - I must admit, I stole it. I used to know this guys whose warrior was called Quanto and I "borrowed" it;

    Senara, druid - randomly generated, while I got used to it, my bf says it sux bawlz;

    Letish, hunter - I've seen it somewhere and I figured it sounded pretty;

    Appleblossom, shaman - thought really hard for this one, and in the end I thought it was brilliant - bf says it sounds like some pornstar name -> sux as well;

    Nimnue, warlock - moment's inspiration;

    Majix, mage - made sense to me to call a mage that.

    And due to my poor imagination and poor choice of names, it's a burden when I have to make a new character

    Well my chars first name, Glamdring was from LotR. he was a tauren and tauren start with a hammer and Glamdring means Foe-Hammer so i thought it fit. then when i transferred, i remembered my friend named his cat Zekthros, Devourer of Souls and i thought it sounded cool so i stole it lol
    If the Burning Legion is such a problem, why not just throw water on them? Then they'll just be a Legion
