In truth all mounts should be instant however you should not be able to mount up on a flying mount or use flight/swift flight form within 4 seconds of leaving combat or breaking the effects of shadowmeld/prowl/stealth type abilities that exit combat.

That way everybody gets instant mounting and druids get knocked down a peg.

Don't get me wrong i love druids but being the "only" class that is capable of melee/ranged/tank/healer while having the ability to stealth/cc and mount instantly is just over the top especially seeing as how blizzard is dumbing down the class mechanics for cataclysm.

It doesn't work in BGs and Arenas, and it doesn't really matter anywhere else.
Doesn't mean it isnt something cool that nobody else has.

Are you REALLY asking why picking an exclusive class mechanic and adding it to a profession just so everyone can have it is retarded ?

Because it costs mana. And anyway, most druids i know only use flight form when they need to go somewhere fast, otherwise use their proto-drakes.

You think it's cool? You could, well, roll a druid. Problem solved.
    Casual Vs. Hardcore?
It's a false dichotomy, premised on a noobish attempt at a dialectic argument, whereby people can vent their various prejudices by creating what's known as a "straw man" against which to contrast their theoretically superior moral character.

What do hunters have that other classes don't?

    1) Ranged Physical DPS
    2) Choice of pets
    3) The ability to drop combat in the middle of a fight
    4) The only class that uses their ranged weapon for damage
    5) The ability to make their party run faster
    6) I could go on...

That being said, instant flight is so helpful in so many different situations. I rolled a druid exclusively to be my gatherer.

And you just completely missed my question. Yes, it's cool, and nobody else has it. On purpose.

But what is this so-called "amazing advantage" you were blabbering about?

let's seee, aspect of the pack, yah 10% less fast than travel form but your whole group can have it, camouflage let's you go unnoticed when someone of the other faction is close,if you are getting ganked by mobs you can always sacrifice your pet or feign death ofcourse =)

I think thati s pretty much more useful thatn "lawl no 2 secs cast time"

my druid is my main and really the only reason i use it when i do some gathering quests so i don't need to unmount to grab the items, for all the rest i got a random flying mount macro for my flying mounts. and the form is ugly^^

Druids can shadowmeld. They can sprint. They can melee dps, cast, heal and tank. They have a stealth to go "unnoticed"
