    I think the logical explanation would be that they exude toxic vapors for combat purposes.

    For the Duke of Below maybe he wasn't the most productive of faceless and he lived below in his parents basement? Or maybe something boring like Grim Batol was a dwarven city so subterranean. And I'll assume at the risk of making an ass of myself that he is the last boss but not the head chief of there whole movement so below king status. So maybe the faceless duke of subterrenean Grim Batol?
