i've seen quite a few animes (in japanese, with english or german subtitles) where teen girls (16-18) are called "kawaii" by other girls/women or guys who are very close to them.

Here's a big image of some of my chibis I've done over the years. These were all done for guildies. Very old and not nearly as up to par as the ones I make today but I still love em =D

"kawaii" basically means "cute" and is actually often used when refering to girls of every age,
