I have to give my vote to Thrall. Sure, Grom is a powerful warrior but I don't think he can compare to the raw power Thrall has as a Shaman.

Although I don't understand the point of this competition. If the info given by any of the previous battles is any proof, they're looking for one person to protect something, right? Well, wouldn't every candidate provide more protection than the best of all? Just strikes me as odd.

Unlike Medivh vs. Malfurion, this one takes no thought. Thrall would absolutely wipe the floor / dirt / brickwork with Grom. Grom was just a warrior. Thrall is a very powerful shaman who can counter everything Grom would throw at him.

If you read Through the Dark Portal you will find that Grom is actually not some axe-swinging, no-brainer savage. His ability to not let the bloodlust take control of him is what gained him victories. Grom is stronger and battle-smart, but in the end I do think Thrall's wisdom and shamanistic abilities would prevail. It's true that Thrall is keeping the Maelstrom from going out of control but Grom is not the Maelstrom.
