Apparently there was going to be some ancient troll race called shadow trolls that come from their current "hiding" when cataclysm hits. I think there was a concept art of it at wowwiki too. Has any1 in beta seen these yet? I think they would be native to Hyjal as they have helped night elves defend the legion in the past if Im not mistaken. Then again that might mean that we´re going to see them at the new caverns of time raid War of Ancients that propably comes at some patch after cata.
They´re supposed to have ogrish features or something like that.

completed all Horde quests in Hyjal, saw no such thing. They have yet to populate ZG in stanglethorn, though...

So yeah, there was one concept art piece for the trolls, but -nothing- was said about them after that. So all your suspisions are based on nothing.
