    Release Date =/= Soon

Release is no longer classified as "soon." For all those who took joy in responding with "Soon" and wowwiki links, you are going to have to think up a new reply.

"The time has come to set the framework for the imminent release of World of Warcraft: Cataclysm. Check out our refurbished Under Dev page for a look at the core features being implemented in this major patch."

Is there an official Blizzard definition for the word imminent? This is the definition on dictionary.com:

    im·mi·nent
       /ˈɪmənənt/ Show Spelled[im-uh-nuhnt] Show IPA
    –adjective
    1.
likely to occur at any moment; impending: Her death is imminent.
    2.
    projecting or leaning forward; overhanging.

Many people use imminent as a synonym for soon. This could be what it is.

Imminent = less than Soon in Blizzard time.

Soon = "We really don't know, but eventually"
Imminent = "We sorta know (still not really), but probably sooner rather than later"

I guess Boub's source may not have been right then eh... but maybe it'll be better if they release it later, less rushed? I suppose we'll find out.

Good thoughts so far. Still not certain though.

I think in Blizzspeak, "Soon" is less than a year and "imminent" is a month or two. Or three.

The order goes: Done -> Imminent -> Nearly There -> Small Tweaks Needed -> "Done" -> Soon -> When It's Done -> In The Future -> We Currently Have No Plans -> Never

I think Blizzard has butchered the term "soon" and now they are going to butcher "imminent".

The same as "kinda soon." but is all a back up in-case they decide they need til' 2016 so they can say "Hey, we did not say it was gonna be soon."

Who knows. I am not certain about Blizzard's usage of the word "imminent."

What's the big deal? We'll know it when they officially state a release date, not before that.
But you made this thread because you want people to stop saying soon?
Okay, my new response from now on will be:

    ... wait for it...

    wait for it...

Soon(tm), could be in 10 years. could be in 10 seconds.

  16. #16
soon(tm) = anywhere from now to infinity
imminent9tm) anywhere from now to soon(tm)

I really don't mind anything people say. I'm not that sensitive. I am trying to assist folks who like to do this in finding another response to release date messages as a friendly gesture. I hope I have been of some assistance.

People over analyze everything. And =/= means not equal to, at least that's what he meant.
