do you care what you look like?

surprisingly, a lot of the people i play with don't care about what their gladiator set looks like. to me, if my gear looks like shit (rogue season 8) i lose interest in the game very early into the season. in contrast, a season like number 3 with vengeful rogue shoulders and ice cream cones, i was so eager to log on and see how boss i looked (human male btw no undead bullshit).

does the way the gear look influence your interest in the game?

You do more damage if you look badass.

    Proven fact

In some ways it does. I'm getting bored of the World of Clonecraft. Its one appeal of LotRO and their outfitter.

Playing a game for the gfx's is like watching a porn movie for the story,
Its all about game play doesnt matter how my chars look.

it doesnt overly affect how i play, personally, but it is a bit of a kick in the balls wen i have to run round in a shit looking tier set for a few months.

more or less. Example if Blizz made the mage set "Piece of Deathwings crap" and looked like fecal matter (literally) then yes I would care. other then that nah.

    Yes.
I get a headache if my gear doesn't match well.
Things need to match and look good at the same time or I get angry.
    I'm weird like that.

I do care... To some extent.
I'll always pick the gear that's best for me, but I hate running around with a ugly helm. Thank God for the hide helm feature.

    Oh, WTB poll.

You lose interest and play shittier when you look bad
anyone remember bugged orc shoulders in TBC? That ripped out all the fun in my orc for a while :|
hide helmet/cloak and a well placed tabard helps but wrath was pain, alot of rogue gear got lighbulbs/lightsources on the shoulders and daggers all looked like icicles

as usual the PvP forum gets spammed with off topic PvErs coming here through the recent forum posts feed on the front page.

Your analogy is more accurate stated, "Enjoying a game only if it has appealing graphics is like only enjoying a porno with an attractive girl in it."

I agree with the OP, when the sets look ick, I just turn off my helm and try not to pay attention...kinda like brown bagging a fugly

Thats not all that accurate. It would be more likely "Enjoying a game only for its graphics is like enjoying porn only for the attractive girl". Slight change to it changed the entire structure.

Honestly I dont care at all. Mostly due to the fact I have the game so unzoomed I see no details at all...

Thank god for appearance changing items. My gear looks shit most of the time since i play many alts and i dont have time to gear up everyone at once. Noggenfogger must be realy ritch...

For WotLK's pvp gear, this is mostly true (maybe more survivability than DPS).

Personally, I hated almost all WotLK pvp sets up until Furious. I didn't even pvp at 80 with my DK until halfway through 3.3. I like the idea of gear progression, but why does that mean wearing iron pots for a year before getting the attractive sets? Tier gear is always shiny, even if their themes are kind of odd.
