[enh] mongoose v. zerker 4.0.1?

Hey!

As of 4.0.1, 1 agi now grants us 2 ap instead of 1; so I was wondering, which weapon enchant would now be better? Berserking or Mongoose?

While I guess I could sim it out myself, I thought that it might be a better idea to post here.. because;

1) I suck at sims, and I might not get the correct answers from it.
2) Others could use this advise as well!

So, whadoya think?

if i have read up correctly beserker still does better than mongoose.

mongoose 120agility=240ap, minor weapon speed increase

beserker 400ap

fairly sure double beserker will out perform mongoose,beserker. but again a sim will be only true way to make sure

Doesn't Mongoose proc way more often than zerker? Or am I completely off the track?

not sure on the internal proc cd, but yes the agility still provides crit. But at our current crit levels I dont see that outperforming the increased ap though.

They proc about the same amount, it is close though on what you can use but double zerker still beats mongoose/zerk...if they hadnt changed the haste proc part of it from tbc it would probably still be the best melee enchant.

They haven't changed it. 30 haste rating, which sucks for enhancement now.
Uptime is about the same
Mongoose > Zerker in PVP
Zerker > Mongoose in PVE

the minor weapon speed increase is 30 haste rating. also dont forget it scales with mail specialisation (5%) and kings (5%), so it's not 240 ap, but 264.6ap, 1.755% melee crit and 30 haste rating.

assuming melee crit cap is not an issue, it's very close with mongoose possibly coming out ont top. this depends on gear ofc.

If I recall correctly Mongoose gives diminishing returns as you level it gives 120 Agi at level 70 but only something like 60 Agi at level 80. Regardless it's been simmed to death in patch 4.0.1 and the answer is mongoose remains worse than Berserking.

Assuming that I wanted to use Mongoose purely because of the looks and costs... Would Zerk/Mong then have a great advantage above mong/mong? :>

Yes, berserking is better than mongoose. Levva is right, it does have diminishing returns. I think that was established at the beginning of Wotlk.

i can confirm this. it still gives 120 agility and 30 haste (not 2% as before)

i think it was either initially planned to give mongoose dr, or they were removed shortly afterwards. mongoose was the wotlk alltime feral bear favourite enchant, and i dont think it would have been that with just a 60 agility proc, when the static agility proc for 2h is 35 agility.

Reasons to mongoose in PvP are
1.as said before a lil bit of extra dodge
2.you likely reforged all your gear crit to mastery so you will be glad to have that extra proc crit.
3. You wont lose armour from berserking proc.

those 3 points are worth more than losing 135 AP from single berserking proc.
